This is related to the problem of doing a save_as on a component, and giving it different names - it will appear under its original name in the second component browser pane [therefore there could be several variants with the same name displayed there] but it'll kick into it's file name if loaded into the main pane ! I at first thought that it was the externally saved model 'component' title and name being different - but if you manually change the external files 'name' to its 'title' it doesn't help. The instance.definition.path returns the correct file path so it's not muddled there... Seems that there's something saved in a model's data that confuses the import into thinking its the same definition[s]... If you edit the table's groups after it's saved externally it'll then import with the right textured top and rails etc BUT the legs won't change as 'leg' already exists from the first table now in the model, so the import still uses that ! Solution ought to be to rename 'leg' as 'leg2' in the second table's skp file, but it's not going to work as SUp still imports the second table's leg as 'leg' even when it's not called that any more in that external skp !!! Super-confused mess... I think it's also tied into the weirdness where a group definition can have more than one instance - it can't theoretically and the group.make_unique even gives a deprecated method warning BUT it is needed to ensure a copied group that is changed doesn't affect its 'original' sibling... Of course the way to 'fool it' is to make the table out of groups/components with no materials and then apply the material to the component instance! But then UV mapping is a messy business one at a time... It is 'against nature' [ ] to have an app that lets you export variants of a component with different materials and later import them back into a new model but somehow muddle up their identities to such an extent that you can't trust which it is...

@andrews said: Next time this happens, when you fill out the Bug Splat report, put in some sort of keyword ... I think I did, did I not do both? My post here IS the followup. In each of the 4 explaination(s) in the Bug Splat! reports, I wrote almost identical notes (but the receiver of the ".isatty" method changes per the list at the top of this thread.): @unknownuser said: Ruby Console: $stdin.isatty --> BUG SPLAT! So take your pick, try searching on ".isatty" Not that important anyway. Interesting that $stdout and $stderr raise "NoMethodError: undefined method `isatty'" The Sketchup::Console class needs a major overhaul. We need to be able to use STDIN, STDOUT and STDERR to implement our own Console Applets / Debuggers, or integrate with thrid-party Ruby IDEs. There is a glaring 'perfect' space for controlling such a feature on the 'Applications' page of the 'Preferences' dialog.

Well, unfortunately I am not a kmz master myself and additionally, Google keeps changing its conversion convention all the time. This last (SU 7.1) change was actually very significant and a lot of things has changed (which keeps the whole world amazed). I can ask however.

I'm currently having similar problems after I updated the graphics driver on my laptop: ati radeon xpress series. Whenever I select a face, it is completely blue, instead of blue dots. this does not occur when I turn hardware rendering off. The same problem and worse happens to a class I was teaching with nvidia cards in their laptops! They were also having trouble selecting faces when they were at an angle to the viewport.

Hi everyone, i had the same problem, with google sketchup 7, free version, i downloaded one week ago, (7.0.11018) i had the APPCRASH problem, with the same secure32.dll i dont understand that type of information, i didnt knew how to solved that. But what i know is that one week ago, i formatted mi cpu, and before that, i had GU installed, and i was working perfectly with it, even thought my computer wasnt in good conditions, so thats why i formatted it. But then i download the GU7, and it doesnt work, i try to download a NET framework, and that isnt the problem, what i thought, is that before i formatted, i hasnt have the NORTON INTERNET SECURITY CENTER, but after the format, it comes by default, so i erase it, and bingo! my sketchup is working fine... Norton always make thins so complicated.! [imgfile:///C:/Users/Familia%20Pacheco/Desktop/Dibujo.jpgimg] I want add the pic where it appears the norton, in the add/remove programs, but i dont know how to do it. so you can see the norton that i had! or maybe isnt neccesary! you are smarter guys... hope this norton things can solve the problem for all you...

Hi, The same problem occurs when I try to scroll up the plugins toolbar. I may be ever so careful with the arrow, but it happens anyway. Karlheinz [image: s1He_Scrollup.jpg] [image: 0A86_Mess.jpg]

That's interesting Thomas - you've made me check what could be wrong and I've found that I've had a fault in my template - I've now created a new template (I have my company logo as a watermark) and it now works!! Also guides now act correctly. I can now email the files as well so it appears I had a glitch when creating my template - all is well I apologise for speaking badly of the program. cheers john

What Su7 version? The latest 7.1M1 release? Or an older version? Also, what graphic card do you have?

Make sure you have your pointer over what you want to zoom in on. Quite often if you have your pointer over empty space it will zoom in "too fast" and "too far". Try that and see if it makes a difference. If not it could be a setting / graphic issue. And welcome to the SCF. [image: RMbsC28W33794092.gif]

Hi Bob, This sounds like a similar that issue popped up with SketchUp 7.1. We're taking a close look and hope to have it fixed in the next SketchUp release.

Andriy, I started with a blank new model, so there is no extra geometry. What I discovered while looking at it again was that the possible bug is related to the "use model extents" checkbox - it doesn't seem to be able to process objects smaller than about 300 mm or one foot. Unchecking that works, but the problem is that the white space visible around the model will print. This has never been a problem for me, because as an architect I mostly deal with large objects, but I became aware of this when seeing the number of posts in SU-related forums asking the same "why does SU need xx pages to print my small part to 1:1 scale?" question that seems to bother especially woodworkers who need to print their templates from SU. Good news; I just realised that SU 7.1 fixed this problem. You get so used to seeing something that occasionally it takes a nudge to notice it has changed.... It makes for a nice improvement in my house plans, so thanks SketchUpGuys!

Mac users (as I have just learnt) have often used the VCB by highlighting it (clicking into it or using the tab to give focus). Now with version 7.1, do not do it. With a rectangle for instance, just start drawing > type the values (into the "thin air") > hit Return/Enter.

Hi frv, Is that part not grouped or inside a component by any chance? In this case, maybe that material is applied on group/component level. Try to paint the group/component also with the default material (this shouldn't affect any materials applied to the faces directly "inside").
