Thought I would give it a try before bed. NEVERMIND how late I stayed awake without knowing. I was VERY pleased with myself when I realized the only way to beat the falling ball was to build a trebuchet. Also it took me a while to figure out there were solutions not using the wheels at all. Failed at getting the several balls across a pit. I'm staying away from it nevetheless.

According to Yahoo, GM did a 2:1 split in March of 1989. If this is accurate, then today's stock price is only twice what it was in 1946. GM Stock Split History lists all the splits since the 1950s

Always is a big deal in Australia and yes we stopped to remember at 11am. There is a group of historians [i believe] from Australia who have been researching for many years to locate a mass grave in Northern France of about 400 Britains and Australian killed during the war in 1916. Last year a dig was commissioned and a lucky bracelet was found and identified as being owned by an Australian solider. From there they went onto to locate many of the bodies of those lost in action..... a wonderful story of some dedicated individuals.... Link to a local news story: http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/11/11/2416941.htm Some touching stories posted here....

Well, I wrote to my marketing contacts directly at SketchUp HQ and I have had no response thus far, but I expect the decsion isn't from them any way. They would need to be willing to intervene on my behalf. On the Google site, there is no way to contact them at all regarding this subject. There are contact us forms for things like using their webtools, but no one to tell that a link isn't working properly or to ask a question about the logo. exasperating really.

True and that's also a nice site. Very interesting art work!! I was at the Festival of Lights in Lyon a couple years ago (it's always/generally at the firt wee-end of December). Good business, too; about 1 million tourists visit Lyon at a time tourism is really down (before Christmas)

@d.alexnine said: It is so interesting that President Bush single handedly with his administration changed the way people outside of America see Americans. Sadly Americans also began to see themselves in a dimly lit light because of the mistakes of our administration. I don't think it was quite single-handedly. Sure, there were some mistakes, but the news media is largely responsible for shaping the perceptions of events. It's also responsible for deciding what events are covered. For example, it's more than a little suspicious how this was missed by the media: A well-documented trail showing the Bush Administration was concerned about Fannie and Freddie way back in April 2001 - just 3 months into the first term. Any responsible reporter would have dug in and found the facts, and brought them to light, not just run with Dem sound bites. Anyway, the current economic situation (regardless of ultimate cause) could steal away hope in a lot of ways, but I'll still hope for SU7 in '09.

Try the Crysis Sandbox 2 editor. Its comes with the demo. And I'm pretty sure the soon to be released new version will be even more easy to use.

It seems that this technology like many others is driven by potential profit. Here is a youtube video of similar technology from cisco. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQnffi6tN0g Now the interesting thing to me is can this be done electronically via an application like Sketchup using 3 Dimensional models. IE what if you could simulate the 35 HD cameras in a 3d application and have those simulated cameras sending video feeds just like the real camera except they are focused on the 3d object in the computer. Now could we display a 3 dimensional "holographic" model to remote locations....Somehow my mind always tries to bring Sketchup into the picture.

John - I did find a pic of an American beer accident but it was a derailed railroad tanker car that spilled its load of beer. The spill didn't look as tragic as the others -- it was too industrial to have the same emotional response. That said, seeing beer transported in tanker cars was in itself kind-a painful. It is good to know that the craft beer industry in the USA is healthy -- so I realize the tanker indignity doesn't apply to all American beer. Regards, Ross

@alan fraser said: It may seem an obvious point, but how exactly is a video over 20 years old relevant to the world today? That was from another political age; it might as well be an interview with Albert Speer. There may be a few ageing die-hard commies lurking in the woodwork or on university campuses somewhere, but they are as irrelevant an ineffectual as this completely anachronistic name-calling. Soviet-style socialism is dead and discredited; outperformed and undermined by western capitalism to the point where it simply imploded. Everyone with any sense and any influence in the west knows that. They were even having to import advanced office equipment by the backdoor, just so that they could get hold of the silicon chips and reprogram them for their missile guidance systems. This is just pure bogeyman under the bed stuff. We'll be getting scare stories on Islamofascists and taqiyya next. Just to be clear, I have never said that I believe Obama is a Marxist. As I have made clear in other threads, I believe Obama and McCain are simply political careerists. The video clip I provided a link to was to show how political careerists can be "useful idiots". 20 year old videos can be just as interesting as literature produced hundreds or thousands of years ago. The Greeks and Romans produced much that is still relevant today. We can discuss what we believe to be relevant. But just because something is old doesn't make it irrelevant. And yes, even watching an interview with Albert Speer can provide useful insights. I would suggest that Western captialism won only the economic war against "Soviet-style socialism" (call it what it was, communism), but in the West the left won the political and cultural struggle. That Soviet-style socialism as an economic system is dead and discredited is true, but the recent debacle with the Western capitalist system would hardly suggest it to be a great alternative. Like the Soviet economic system it came very close to imploding. In fact, you could argue that it did implode and that it is only being kept up and running with smoke and mirrors. No political, economic or cultural system lasts forever. They are all replaced by, or evolve in to something new. There are indeed many die-hard commies still lurking in our universities. There are also a surprising number of leading members of New Labour who also used to be members of communist and other assorted extreme left wing movements. Oh, I know, I know, they all grew up and left behind those silly childish thoughts and became moderates. Amazing isn't it how only left-wing extremists can reform and become pillars of the establishment. Similar to how only left-wing terrorists can become University lecturers. Of course, only nasty, small minded, ring-wing bigots point these things out. Because of political correctness (a cultural and political victory for the left) I will avoid going on to discuss the issue of Islam. Regards Mr S
