Hi Buzzer, I've seen some of Cully's work, but I don't read any of the books he as worked on. His style sits pretty squarely in the "old/new school" of animation artist I like i.e. David Johnson (aka DevilPig). Bart Sears is the same story, seen his work over the years with JL and Dark Knight. Geoff Darrow on the other hand has been firmly in my "must list" I own most all of his books, own some of his originals, and had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with him (probably more like stalking), Frank Miller and Mike Allred at Comic Con. All the detail I put into my models might be his "influence", however subconscious. For this project I'd point to; Ron Cobb, Ashley Wood, Bill Barnes, Keith Weesner, Alex Toth, Francois Schuiten, and my good friend John Bell as influences. I certainly have more artist that I love, but those are the ones I point to with regards to Fuel & Fire.

Your windows should also let some light in I guess. Change them to thin glass in Kerky.

@durant hapke said: Massive Talent Matteo, I've long believed that sex and creativity are the same thing -- like the strong and weak nuclear forces -- manifestation of the same base need. What about your choice of subjects? Your post makes it sound like a convenience, but perhaps it was more your muse at the wheel. You might have picked a lamp, or over stuffed couch to experiment on, but no, a curve was the order of the day. Durant "bring the 00" Hapke master duraNT, you've centred the point. I hereby invite you to the corner bar. Let's open a thread about the forces that guide our actions. The erotism of some architecture, the subtle line between erotism, porn and sex. What a nice field to explore. Dear HapkE, I sense a great force in your posts. Sadly my english is too poor to catch the ghost, hidden meanings. Although it's a pleasure to read you. Hope to read you soon about the fuchsia Muse. /matteo

Picture 1. The line of trees on the left hand side is too distracting. Way too many people, and they seem to like being in the road when cars are driving around. Picture 2. The trees in this picture are even more distracting. Too many people again. Picture 3. Trees too distracting again. Too many people again. Picture 4. Too many people, but otherwise very good. Picture 5. Really good. The shadow of the tree in the left hand corner looks a little strange in relation to the rest of the picture though. There aren't very many visible shadows in the picture so it stands out. The water in the entrance doesn't look right. The entrance wall with the sign seems to be curved, but the writing seems to be flat and to the left rather than the centre.

@kwistenbiebel said: Thanks Nomer for both the nice image as the short (but really good) how-to explanation. well im glad you understand clearly the explanation. its actually difficult to achieve the gradient in using 3d. for that light whilst i have used 2d image. the only problem of course when you change your viewing angle. unless you or our friend solo has another workaround.

[image: loft_post.jpg] made a few slight changes based on a lot of feedback from different sources. thanks for the feedback, compliments and crits. I tried to cool off the interior light so it matched the BG a bit better. Toned down the carpet flip and flipped the canvas for a bit better compositional read. (this is a fun/fantasy piece so i don't have a design doc. to adhere to) The space was supposed to be less 'high-rise' and more 'swanky pad on the hill' so i figured it had some sort of green roof and vines growing up the walls. thanks again for all the feedback!

well, seems like that's the next logical step for you. i would say give Blender a shot but i think it's interface can be a bit frustrating. maybe sign up for a Vue trial, that's pretty easy to get up and running.

Gian, I like these very much too! Though not better than the first: which have an atmosphere that feels "forest"..."before the mist of morning clears". These to me feel "suburban" instead..."time for work soon secluded sub-division". (I suppose they do sell the architecture better :`) A mix may please me both.

Very nice mate! Glad you decided to save some water! I think Tinanne's suggestion to reduce the recessed lighting is a good idea! I decided to post some of my own maxwell renderings on the forum here now and hope I don't get shot down! Keep posting mate I like your style! Richard

You know, perhaps it would be a cool idea to design the new station in a similar way to the old one, but a bit more modern. I think the surroundings would benefit from that Could you show us a view including the tracks?

ok, this one is very similar to the previous, but this time I've tried starting with a low poly mesh and using sub-divide and smooth on it. [image: d002_car7small.jpg]

Thanks again all...this kind of discussion helps a bunch with the learning curve! Eric, I'll only take credit for deciding not to fix it when I noticed the difference in the new brick...glad to hear a vote as the right decision. Mirjman, I think you may have the reason for the difference nailed; I was thinking it was the saturation of the SU brick material (which is hard to fix in PSP without screwing up the other model materials)...thanks for the tip! Thought the DWC needed work so here's another version: [image: imSg_tn_Image3too.jpg]
