@solo said: Welcome to SCF Jeremy. Great first post mate, what render engine did you use? (Looks a little like Vue from the tree) My only observations are: Shadows are too dark the entry arch has bumps reversed Windows look like they are photos (looks like flat interiors) Thanx to you I use Vue 8. because twan (PUGZ1983) is a friend of mine. We start drawing together a few years ago. Only I have internet since a few days. Thanx for your comment. And yes, the windows are pictures. I took a few pictures and made some materials of it, with photoshop. Normally I use kerkythea, but vue is a deffently level up. please excuse me for my bad english. greetz jeremy

Hy Frederik, Thanx for the feedback.I love Kerky. Been working with it for a year now. Recently gave Twillight a try. Also very nice and I love the Interface. Hope Displacement wil be an option soon. and maybe an upgrade in the Instance spray option in Kerky ( If Kerky is still in active development? ). Something like the ecosystem spray in Vue would be nice . Greetz from Twan

Thanks for the explanation Joel. Its a process that I had not thought about. It sure does take a lot of time though. I wonder if any of the guys here might have some ideas on how to make the process faster.

Pretty cool style, Adam. I like it. By the way, I hope my fantasy and sci-fi sketchup art inspired your son to play with Sketchup again. Best, _KN

Thanks guys. Daniel: I see your point, i'll try that next time. mitcorb: These are not real buildings, they are just some imaginary designs i've made and rendered myself. arjunmax09: The render engine i've used is vray for sketchup 6, used in sketchup version 7.

I personally like the first roof better...although it just seems too new. Perhaps just by aging the shakes by greying them would make a huge difference in feel. Maybe a little green moss on a few of the shake's edges as well. I think the model looks great...that is the only thing that jumps out at me.

Nice work, Sharwe. You roof tut is cool. But you could do it much faster now with TIG's collection of Extrude tools (Extrude Edges by rail, by face, etc.). Regards, _KN

@unknownuser said: Sharwe, It is quite obvious there is a lot of work involved. My comments are: The trees and many other components are repeated so many time (not even scaled or rotated in many cases) that it becomes very obvious. You can get away with using the same tree or bush but you need to vary it in some ways. The animation is very jerky. It should flow much smoother than it does. I think there needs to be more color. The animated sections don't add to the animation as it is not showing how the building is being built. You already show the insides of the structure in the animation to the sections seem to be not needed. The reflections on the water are very nice. Scott Thank you for your views, then I will be amended!

Roger: When V-ray calculates the shadows depending on the distance shadows become softer because of the shadow bias, so those trees far away cast very soft shadows when rendered. I hope my answer is what your are looking for, if its not please tell me so i can solve your doubt .

thanks guys...im glad you like these and the feedback is great Frederik: I see what you mean about the DOF. It was actually done in post production. I go back and forth between trying it with the vray camera and photoshop, but for this one I just had an extra rendering that I did and I just tried playing with it to make the view a little more interesting cause I really didnt like the original camera angle to begin with. The photography concepts are still something that I am battling with to get better at. I have never taken a photography class and I honestly have never used a camera other than a dinky little digital one. I plan to look around for more photography resources, because my only knowledge has been from reading information on vray's physical camera since they say it tries to replicate one in real life . But thanks again bud. Unkr: Thanks. DOF does only work with a phys cam from what I know. I am not sure how it handles in the newest version, but when it gets all worked out, it should work very easily from what I would guess. Derm: Im glad you brought up the desing, because I forgot to mention that the design is not mine. I took it from a kitchen rep. poster lying around the office and I wanted to see how closely I could match the scene since it was a practice project. Then as you see me update this (hopefully), I desinged the rest of the house around this kitchen with my own design ideas. Ur right about the toaster...I wanted make it the faucet, but it just wasnt working for me in photoshop Solo: Thanks bud. That chick was brought up too on the ASGVIS forum and I totally see it now...she makes it look way too staged and you perfectly put that into words with your quote. And I dont think she is blended perfectly into the scene yet either and I think positioning her where i did and the fact that she is looking right at the camera doesnt help because it makes her a focal point like someone had suggested to me. The metal is a brushed material that I was practicing to make myself...it still needs work, but Teofas guided me to a really nice one that someone made that I amg goin to try in this scene. Oli: Thanks, im glad you like it
