Another movie ... #5!!

I finished another one ... My Radio Store ... http://www.TreasureInside.net
All are created primarily with SU. People are hand-drawn .jpg drawings (traced over photos) and overlayed onto the background sets with video processing software. This gives a rough, stylistic animation that's ideal for short movies with low-bandwidth requirements for use online (eg YouTube). The series has a common theme - the quiet feeling of aliveness. They are visual metaphors about my personal discoveries.

I m still amazed of how this looks like a movie ..
Well done!

Hi Joel,
This is the first time I have viewed your movies and must say they are excellent and very enjoyable. Its great to see people using SketchUp for visual communication this way.
I have signed up for your updates and am awaiting my email confirmation. I look forward to viewing more of your movies .... with great messages!
I am sure there are many members that would like to learn more about your methods and workflow. If you can spare the time please give us a few pointers and maybe even a tutorial

My methods and workflow ... I'd be happy to answer any questions but I'm not sure what I can describe. I build all sets and props in SU. I write the script and give each line a static jpg or an animated scene. The images of me are hand-drawn tracings (by an artist friend) of digital photos. The tracings are scanned, then touched up and colored in Photoshop and then converted to PNG. The PNG images are inserted into the SU model for animations, or overlayed on jpg for static images. Then I export avi files and build the movie in Corel VideoStudio, with WAV voiceover recordings.
Does that make sense? (I hope so.) Does that sound easy? (It's not.) Each 5 min movie takes about two months. Lots of hours.
I am feverishly passionate about getting out this message: We carry magic. Feeling life itself inside us is finding a treasure.

Thanks for the explanation Joel. Its a process that I had not thought about. It sure does take a lot of time though. I wonder if any of the guys here might have some ideas on how to make the process faster.
