Roger: When V-ray calculates the shadows depending on the distance shadows become softer because of the shadow bias, so those trees far away cast very soft shadows when rendered. I hope my answer is what your are looking for, if its not please tell me so i can solve your doubt .

thanks guys...im glad you like these and the feedback is great Frederik: I see what you mean about the DOF. It was actually done in post production. I go back and forth between trying it with the vray camera and photoshop, but for this one I just had an extra rendering that I did and I just tried playing with it to make the view a little more interesting cause I really didnt like the original camera angle to begin with. The photography concepts are still something that I am battling with to get better at. I have never taken a photography class and I honestly have never used a camera other than a dinky little digital one. I plan to look around for more photography resources, because my only knowledge has been from reading information on vray's physical camera since they say it tries to replicate one in real life . But thanks again bud. Unkr: Thanks. DOF does only work with a phys cam from what I know. I am not sure how it handles in the newest version, but when it gets all worked out, it should work very easily from what I would guess. Derm: Im glad you brought up the desing, because I forgot to mention that the design is not mine. I took it from a kitchen rep. poster lying around the office and I wanted to see how closely I could match the scene since it was a practice project. Then as you see me update this (hopefully), I desinged the rest of the house around this kitchen with my own design ideas. Ur right about the toaster...I wanted make it the faucet, but it just wasnt working for me in photoshop Solo: Thanks bud. That chick was brought up too on the ASGVIS forum and I totally see it now...she makes it look way too staged and you perfectly put that into words with your quote. And I dont think she is blended perfectly into the scene yet either and I think positioning her where i did and the fact that she is looking right at the camera doesnt help because it makes her a focal point like someone had suggested to me. The metal is a brushed material that I was practicing to make myself...it still needs work, but Teofas guided me to a really nice one that someone made that I amg goin to try in this scene. Oli: Thanks, im glad you like it

@unknownuser said: You did miss a groove in the right side of the structure near the door. One thing that I notice is that your windows are not recessed as much as the original structure. The wall on the far left of the image has a gap too large from the original image. I am not sure if there was supposed to be cables on that side to match the side with the cobblestones but I can not see the cables. A little weathering to the structure would help too. Like olishea said this could easily be done in post with photoshop. Thanks for the critiques. I will see if i can find time to fix some errors. @unknownuser said: All in all really nice work and a good example that projecting textures on to a box will never come close to good modeling. I'm not so sure about that, Scott

@unknownuser said: It's easy to look at something and type a quick, "Looks great", but does the person posting really benefit from that and has the person replying even really thought about the post or just made a remark after a passing glance? Well said Earthmover. I have commented on this many times lately after seeing some images posted that are either too early in the design process to even comment on or images that are far to basic to deserve a "great job" or "looks great" comment. This forum is the best sketchup forum on the web and we as artists owe it to eachother to be honest with our comments as we will never grow if all we ever hear is "great job" when we know the work is undeserving of a positive comment. While I may not have agreed with TIG's comment about "no soul" at first I do respect it and understand it after further explanation. I would love to see this forum become something of the CGsociety (http://www.cgsociety.com) for the sketchup community but I think right now it is lacking the works from enough premiere sketchup artist. Hopefully that will change over time. We all know amazing work when we see it. I would love to see a closed gallery for some of these "premiere works". Not sure how these works would be evaluated to be placed in this gallery but I sure that could be worked out. I think it is sad to see some of these amazing works get buried under newer posts and get lost over time. Now on to Pugz updates. I really like the progress of this image but have some concerns. The glass side of the structure (left) looks really nice and flows well. If the structure is going to be a waterfront residence then the use of all the glass fits this well. The issues I have are the use of the rails on the second level from the top. Is there a walkway at the level or are the rails there only to tie into the rest of the design? The right side of the image (all the wood louvers), are divorced from the rest of the structure for a few reasons. The use of all the wood do not fit with the rest of the design. The other side (left) uses a lot of glass and metal and no wood at all. It seems as though the left side of the structure has received much more attention (for now) and this might work itself out as the right side is developed further. The wood material on the louvers just does not work for me. All in all I think the image will come to life better and some design choices might come together as the design matures. I like what is done so far and it is gathering soul (IMO). Best regards, Scott

@gaieus said: It's an interesting concept with the cross shape opening letting the light in. A (somewhat) similar thing can be seen here - but with artificial lighting (at about 1 minute in the sideshow). It's now the glass cover of some ancient, Early Christian ruined underground. [flash=480,385:27i6wmqg]http://www.youtube.com/v/UNzVpzpi0EA&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0[/flash:27i6wmqg] Yep, that would be great if lighting is set in this pic.

@bahri said: more editing... how about this ? use kerkythea preset #19..35 phases it took about 3hr and 55 minute Hmmm... Well I think maybe a couple of things can still be improved. I can think of : 1- adding a jpg in the Self luminance tab / Radiance of your white board material : this will create a self lluminant material like a tv screen you'd watch in the dark... 2- try to insert a global sky or some global HDRI. THis will bring some natural reflections to your scene ; 3- maybe some more work on the materials like the columns (they look a bit flat to me... I dunno...) ; 4- maybe place a plant or flower in the foreground and try to move your camera again to catch the plant and the room. OK well, I hope you'll find this more useful than annoying... And again, experiment with Kerkythea, browse their forum and even maybe post your Work in Progress on KT's forum. Lots of amazingly nice people out there too ! Waiting to see more ! Nicolas

Yep...I agree. Cars are a way of adding selling the idea of a space being welcoming and people are there. Your images are plenty welcoming enough without them. It helps renders for many people...in your case your renders are so good by themselves you absolutely don't need them. I also think the people you use in yourwork, work perfect for your watercolor style. Always a joy to see your work.
