Pete, Yeah, we are feeling the hurt from the economy as well. Hope things get back to normal soon. You should check out this plugin for Mental Ray - http://www.3dtotal.com/services/pluggins/bluecherry_shop.asp It turns Mental Ray into Podium. ....and it's only $15.

This is an excellent idea... Back in May 2008, I posted the Designed in SU thread, where you can see some renders as well as some real photoes... Another project I've been working on is the house where my parents in law live... [image: LgN6_Nybrogaard-2008-1-bloom.jpg] [image: Vp9t_Nybrogaard-2008-3-bloom.jpg]

and I always associated Vue with landscape renders (and little more than that). Solo, you proved me otherwise and my urge to get a grip on this software rises once more. didn't you want to create some tuts at some point? the render really looks delicious. Shit, I feel like drinking a litres of coke now!

Thanks Jakob! I really like the way you have so much control over the Vray sun in Max. It's easy to invoke a nice warm feeling.

i've re-rendered the model adding a few more elements and as usual trying my hand at something new .....this time its clip mapping .....i saw tutorials about how to do it in podium and after days of searching , i finally found a tutorial for clip mapping in vray for SU........so i went ahead and added trees and those wild grass like plants in the planters ......quite happy with the results (notice the shadows).....although still struggling with the grass texture (it looks fake) ....anyone knows how to fix that..?. and please let me know ..where can i find good grass textures? i also added the garden units ...but the model isnt complete yet.....on more unit to go...and furniture also need to add some landscape elements....actually still need to design the landscape... and need to work on how make the finishes look better.... thanks guys .......let me know what you think....... @unknownuser said: Vey nice idea. Have you introduced SU at math lesson? Such a task at IT lesson would be easier to justify Thanks Tomasz, Yes, I used Sketchup for math lessons. I think it is a powerful tool in math lessons for a variety of reasons. Math objects become tangible, you have to draw them, you have to concentrate on the process and not only on the product, you can visualize lots of math concepts: orthogonality in space, polyhedrons, lines in space, ... rotations in space, shifting, scaling, ... (to name but a few) When students know the tool, the teacher may also use Sketchup to show lots of math results (decomposition of cube in pyramids, cavalieri theorem, ... ). Lessons: basics simple houses polyhedrons (students' models) tables and containers cars (students' models 1,students' models 2) @unknownuser said: I love those cars. So much diversity among them Tomasz [image: macchine+B3.jpg] [image: macchine+E2.jpg] [I would have loved to carry on this work with these students, but it was only a temporary post. I'll try SU in the next school for a longer period].

@unknownuser said: ...... Wo3Dan, I do not know exactly what you mean whit the shadows...? ........ Dirk, What I mean is that at least in some of the 'Plattegronden' the information you get from the geometry contradicts what the shadows are telling about the model.....unless the light source is close. With exaggerated FoV it would be more difficult to tell but in some 'almost' topviews where walls left and right are sort of parallel on screen it becomes noticable. Have a look at attached file (with basic geometry of one of your 'plattegronden'). Wo3Dan Shadows_Dirkkkk.skp
