[Sorry if a post this again after the server failure]

Hi, I'm an italian math teacher.
I'm using sketchup with 13-year old children at school.

Here's the result of the first 5 lessons (1 hour each). Children made
      the models,
I made the animation (with sketchup). I wanted to share the video
'cause I think it is interesting (even though, of course, very naive).
      Thanks,

          Guzman,
Thank you very much for sharing this here with the community.
We have started a Junior forum here some time ago. Maybe the children from your class
would be interested in participating in this Junior forum communicating and exchanging su
models with children their age from all over the world. This would be a good for them
even to improve their English. If they are interested you can contact the board and we
someone will give you more details.

          Cheers,
          Mateo

              Guzman,

Vey nice idea. Have you introduced SU at match lesson? πŸ˜„
Such a task at IT lesson would be easier to justify πŸ˜„.

I love those cars. So much diversity among them πŸ˜„

                Thanks Tomasz,

Yes, I used Sketchup for math lessons.
I think it is a powerful tool in math lessons for a variety of reasons.
Math objects become tangible, you have to draw them,
you have to concentrate on the process and not only on the product,
you can visualize lots of math concepts:
orthogonality in space, polyhedrons, lines in space, ...
rotations in space, shifting, scaling, ... (to name but a few)
                When students know the tool,
the teacher may also use Sketchup to show lots of math results
(decomposition of cube in pyramids, cavalieri theorem, ... ).

                Lessons:

                1. basics
                2. simple houses
                3. polyhedrons (students' models)
                4. tables and containers
                5. cars (students' models 1,students' models 2)

[I would have loved to carry on this work with these students, but it was only a temporary post. I'll try SU in the next school for a longer period].
