There are some free models of statues on the net. Someone in 3D Warehouse transformed to skp this free model: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=14e3023f03787b204a736b2733b8d89e&prevstart=132 [image: download?mid=14e3023f03787b204a736b2733b8d89e&rtyp=lt&ctyp=other]

Watkins, I was actually thinking of going the other direction with similar materials. I was thinking of a thin plywood core with medium density foam blocks glued to it. In the art project, this might be suspended in an arched tower above pedestrians. Of course, a City engineer will be involved in safety issues, but the safest thing would be something that would not kill and be less likely to injure in a worst case situation. I even considered aerogel until I found out it is the most expensive building material possible. I would like to produce a miniature in brass for my desktop. Carbon fiber would be interesting but again expensive. A ferrous metal core and super magnets embedded in the end blocks would be fun a long as you did not get your fingers caught between modules. A lot of possibilities.

All my comments are going to be negative. Sorry. I hate cutout people. I don't like the fact that there's a combination of cutout people, 2d graphic, realistic trees and then the rendered building in the background. I don't think there's near enough emphasis on the appearance of the building, which is what the image is supposed to be all about.

Yea... the client wanted a straight on view without it being a 2d elevation. Maybe I still need to play around with camera angles and field of view to get something a little better. Thanks Daniel!

Itd be cool if you could find a better background image, the one youve got at the moment really doesnt do the model justice.

To Pav 3j, Igor and Mike thanks so much for your feedback, I am glad you like these images. There are another 16 renders of this space - I just sent out the CD to my web designer yesterday, so hopefully they will be on my website by week's end. Mike D - I have posted to the Artlantis site, and they have added some of my images to their gallery, but thanks so much for the suggestion. As for the computer that I use - it is a Mac G5 running OSX with a Intel Xeon processor - it is on loan to me from a very good friend. Even with all that power, it still gets bogged down from time to time. For large models like this one, I have to break it up in Sketch Up, and then piece it back together in Artlantis. Usually, after that point, everything works fine. I would also invite you guys (and anyone else that may be interested) to visit my blog at: http://lonewolfdraftinganddesign.blogspot.com/ Basically, it is a page for people to exchange ideas - it is all explained in the first post. Thanks again for your comments.

@unknownuser said: Another nice render Khalid. The only thing I can see maybe needs a little tweeking is the facade of the building. Looks a bit shaded with regards to where the light is coming from. Other than that, great! Thanks James, it's the texture mapping effect my friend and there is no light at all as I mentioned before. The only light used here is the hidden sky scene in my GI engine and ofcourse the SU environment itself. Regards, Khalid

Beautiful, Pete...and I too think the night render is just great! (Please don't post this model, as I'll then be tempted to add it to all of mine...at the least to cast a shadow :`)

Great as always Solo, keep it up. Is it worthwhile to try using the free version of Vue?
