It's actually 3D grass I'm experimenting with at the moment... @nrevk niatpak said: what is the IOR of the glass ? I used the Thin glass material from the basic pack...

Ive done a bit of raster to vector conversion, and generally the results arent very acceptable, and that was with black and white images, i cant imagine how bad theyd be with colour maps! On the other hand, i ahve imported a pic of a map in to SU before and traced over the contour lines. That worked pretty well, and if youve got a good pic you can drape it over the mesh very easily. If you had some known distances, i supose you could also do it to scale as well. or maybe just use GE

Hey Guys! Thanks for all the great comments! Yeah, I really need to get this thing in gear. Heh. No pun intended. Jason! Those Australian rigs were one of the inspirations for this truck. In fact my sister lives in Australia and I remember seeing lots of cool stuff when I visited Ularu.

In the second column of screens the bottom two monitors have a deformed casing. The shadows on the back wall seem strange. I don't like the marble tops of the cabinets on both sides of the room. The computer chairs are pushed aside, when surely they'd have been lined up in front of the keyboards? The left computer chair is hidden behind the table chairs. I'm not too sure what the 4 boxes are at the end of the long table (speakers?).

model looks great.. the only thing that distracts is the tiling grass- it looks like carpet. I learned a neat grass trick from this model here: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=d218e86bdbc5ab2b972ec726e7a08cca&prevstart=0 its a fast move that makes a ton of difference

Tad too 'doffy'. Still working on the model. [image: doftest2pa3.th.jpg] Rethinking what I want to do with stuff like this. Drawing's great, but I've printed a couple of renders (not this one) on photo paper - and the result's brilliant. They look just like crisp b & w photo's of 'physical' models.
