    • RE: Sketchup crashes when starting

Does anyone know why Sketch Up just randomly crashes? Version 6 was always stable, and now I have 8,and it stinks! I don't know what Trimble did to it, but they really messed it up. Sketch Up 8 crashes on both my Mac and PC, both running different processors, graphic cards on operating systems, so I know it is not my hardware. The version on my Mac is pro, and the PC version is basic (free). Even the plugins are different between both machines, so I know it is not a code conflict or unstable plugins. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I have removed plugins that may have been problematic, and I have made my models as uncomplicated as possible. I used to be able to create massive, complex models and now I am lucky if I can get 15 minutes of continuous use. It crashes when I move geometry, save a file, open a file, run a plugin or even just draw a line. Furthermore, the "bugsplat" thing is useless, as its suggestions are always either update Sketch Up, add a line a code for layer 0 in Ruby, or "sorry, no information available" - useless. I need real solutions - so if anyone has any, I would love to hear them!

    • Mirror Function!!!!

I love Sketch Up, and use it for all of my architectural renderings, but my one criticism: no mirror function. Many of my designs are symmetrical in nature, and I could save so much time if there was a mirror tool. Is this something that could be included in the next version of sketchup? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    • RE: USA user group

The USA group sounds like a good idea - my name is Sean, and I am from Surprise, AZ. I have been doing 3D modelling and design for a little over a year and half. Please feel free to visit my website, or look in the galleray section for examples of my work. Feedback and comments are always appreciated.

    • RE: Renders by Lone Wolf Drafting and Design

To Pav 3j, Igor and Mike 😧 thanks so much for your feedback, I am glad you like these images. There are another 16 renders of this space - I just sent out the CD to my web designer yesterday, so hopefully they will be on my website by week's end. Mike D - I have posted to the Artlantis site, and they have added some of my images to their gallery, but thanks so much for the suggestion. As for the computer that I use - it is a Mac G5 running OSX with a Intel Xeon processor - it is on loan to me from a very good friend. Even with all that power, it still gets bogged down from time to time. For large models like this one, I have to break it up in Sketch Up, and then piece it back together in Artlantis. Usually, after that point, everything works fine. I would also invite you guys (and anyone else that may be interested) to visit my blog at: http://lonewolfdraftinganddesign.blogspot.com/ Basically, it is a page for people to exchange ideas - it is all explained in the first post. Thanks again for your comments.
