      Hi SU folks,

I wanted to post this link to what I think is one of the best renderings I have ever seen on the web.
The images are produced by Enricoerica on the Indigo forum.
I just needed to share this with you guys as this is a great inspiration to me what a rendering could (should?) look like.
He used Blender and Indigo render, but I think it has to be possible to achieve similar results by using Sketchup as a modeler.
Solo, I am looking at you , I think modeling wise this is your cup of tea ๐Ÿ˜‰.

      Here's the link:

Undoubtedly... If you have the right textures and know/understand how to apply them, it sure is possible, with any modelling application... ๐Ÿ˜‰

I wouldn't say "modeling wise" but more likely "texture wise" and again I agree that Pete (being the texture King) will be the first person I would believe is capable of achieving similar results... ๐Ÿ˜‰

nice renders! very nice texturing . I agree whit Frederick , that is a matter of texturing (and not modeling) .
does anyone knows free ( or not free) good UVW unwarper apps?

Amazing! That is what I call texturing. The guy certainly knows how to use textures.

Thats some pretty sweet texturing he's got going there, impressive stuff indeed.

Majid, i think blender has a pretty advanced set of UV wrapping/unwrapping tools.

                              Indeed,
                              The texturing is amazing.
Google Sketchup should definitely get a 'wrap texture around object'.
The current 'project texture' method just doesn't cover all situations and gives ugly distorted textures at tangential angles.

I recently tried Blender as a portable application running from my USB drive in an attempt to see how easy it would be to work completely with open source software. I read that previously mentioned tutorial guide and another one made by someone who was an engineer to get me started on it. What I found was it seemed like the most simple tasks took some overly complex steps to achieve what I wanted to create. The interface is 'OK' but totally confusing compared to MAX and most of the commands are keyboard based with the annoyance that you cant configure the keys to your liking. Needless to say that I quickly deleted it as it was proving to be to much of a task to use; I say that its very un-intuitive as opposed to SketchUp, which is a shame really but other people may have a better experience with it than I did.
