Finally!
-
finally got around to trying out fred's method for creating TIN rings.
didn't realise quite how powerful this method is until i tried it out, it has definitely opened up new doors for me with sketchup (just wish i had tried it earlier!)so thank you very much fred, like i said before...legend.
here is an example of my quick little experiment, nothing new to the forum, but i thought i'd share anyway.
enjoy

wow, thats cool! what renderer did you use?
-
just KT, i was going to give it a blast in artlantis, but seeing as the export button was already there it seemed a shame no to use it!
just been trying out a ring with rounded edges, my god the poly-count is high after i add detail!
heres a lil render of one, again in KT.

set this one to render while i was in a meeting.
a lot better than the first one i think.

It's looking nice, Pav...
But I believe it will look much better if you try using one of the render presets, where caustics will show...
Try preset no. 09 - 12... -
he he, i did, i used number 10 (medium-caustics +aa 0.3) or something like that.
maybe i did something wrong?
any more advice?
thanks for your help!
