I seem to do a lot of renders for no real reason other than ot amuse myself, so instead of cluttering he forum with lots of mini topics im just going to post it all here. enjoy.

Thought i better spend a bit of time testing out all those new textures, so did the bowl. I'd like to say it didnt take very long, but i over did it on the poly count (25,000) so SU was crawling. I think i over did the reflection a bit as well, but it takes a long time for my poor little computer to change the reflection on so many faces, so i just left it.

My first try at indigo, and im sold πŸ‘ i couldnt get this scene to render properly in podium for love nor money but first time in indige and it looks sort of not to bad. Theres a lot wrong with it (like oly the top surface of th water showing) but i didnt spend much time setting up. swings and rounsabouts πŸ˜‰

Yeah, the main render cleaned up in about 30 mins but there was still a lot of noise in the shadows, i'm guessing tis because not a lot of light was getting to them (what with them being shadows and all)which meant it took longer for enough light to fall on them to make it look clean and unnoisy.

Yeah, these caustics renders with dielectric glases can push up render time. Nice output - though I may have used a different floor; maybe a simple colour or a plain plastic like one.

                                  Gai...

More playing with shiny stuff 😎

Gai, i like using this particular floor because i find it highlights how the materials curves the light, where as a plain floor doesnt show this very well.

And thanks to taff goch for the model ("borrowed" it from the 3d warehouse)

Please excuse the frankly shocking quality of this render, as it was meant to be more of an experiment ot see if i could do a working telescope: the conclusion, sort of.

I like these renders - they appeal to the mathematician in me I guess. Here's one that I struggled with if you feel like testing it out.
