I love Podium. I learnt everything I know from this app. The basics of lighting, detail, textures, bumps, specs etc etc. The forum is fantastic and I owe everything to all the people who helped me improve and try harder. I started to look at my work much more critically. People have specifically 'defected' to twilight because it's completely integrated into SU, just like podium. It gets to a point though where you need more options; more realism, SOFT SHADOWS, real bumps, more control, image based lighting, camera settings, DOF (haha). I started to fake effects in photoshop with my podium renders and I don't think you should have to do this...such as blurring the unrealistically sharp shadows.[edit] which they have fixed in the new update I bet it's hard for the developers to strike a balance between an easy-to-use program and one with enough 'professional' features. They are listening to us though, there is a wishlist on the podium forum that people constantly update with new ideas. Future of Podium Version 2? I bet it will be awesome. But please, this isn't about Podium vs Twilight. It's about DOF and sexy chairs My theory on renders......it's the substance that counts......"you cannot polish a turd"

use a fake emitter on the surface of the light ball with a pointlight inside and render with Easy "low" or "Medium" (do test on prelim for practicing with rendering animations) you can of course render it other ways, even make the sphere a light emitter (as I assume you've done here), but that will render much longer... try it with the progressive animation render settings. making the sphere an SSS wax material with a pointlight inside could also be interesting. when rendering SSS materials with non-progressive render methods, use one with a "+", so Medium+ would be a good one in that case. look up the SP animation threads on TWL's forum

@nomeradona said: dear lian, my quick guess. you are from the philippines right? the painting and your never ending sirs... as far as your question. clear glass. just use the clear glass of vray.. its there, but all you have to do is to tick "affect shadows" and also "affect alpha" imho. as for noisy stuff, the setting is all right, all you do now is to increase the subdivision in your materials. my suggestion is about 16 to 24.. the default is 8. as for the trees outside, i think putting vray plane and also perhaps soem 3d trees or face me 2d pictures will help. anyway the openign is just a bit. the filipinos have the http://www.3dpinoy.org and you might want to visit this too... HELLO MR. NOMERADONA..YES IM FROM PHILIPPINES.. I FOLLOW YOU SUGGESTIONS ABOUT MY PROBLEM..I HOPE I GOT YOU RIGHT.. [image: 1l45_T7d.jpg]

Very interesting. The second one reminds me, for some reason, of one of the floating cities in Larry Niven's Ringworld Engineers

Wow they look like works out of piranesi!! I really like both a lot right up till the outside is erased out then they tend to get that all to common SU look about them!

the second one is very well done, the grass looks awesome too. In the first one, the grass on the foreground should be Photoshopped a bit, but the rest looks very very good Nice work!

cmeed - great stuff! It is the closest I've ever seen to Croatian Naive Painting in rendering... [image: naive%20art.jpg] and have wanted to create some 3D Naive for a long time. Keep up the great work... the hand of an artist will create art. (I was in several meetings with an architect who would paint using his coffee. )

I think the joint works but it seems like the scale is off on one side or the other. Or maybe it's just the perspective. -brodie

First of all- you get great projects! Looks really impressive! the black and white rendering is revealing as to the material qualities of the building. I'm going to have to start using this as a design tool. Good stuff!
