Hmm, that is tricky. That's the kind of thing you could fake if you were showing to someone who is not familiar with the room. But if its for the person who sleeps in the room every night, its a bit tougher to fake stuff. But, if you are putting in a large mirrored wall where they have none, they do not know exactly what the reflection should look like. So just getting close should work. to get "close" I think you could stand where the wardrobe is planned to go and take a picture looking back towards the base photo. You will probably need a really wide lens - 18mm or so is my guess. I could be wrong though. If you have various lens options, I'd play around with them. And you will probably have to do some image editing on that image as well. It might need to be blended with the backsides of objects you have rendered or something. In other words, this will be an imperfect science.

thanks you guys. I will try all of these methods. I am sure most of this is just my lack of experience with the program. I think scripting might be a little out of my airspace right now, but I will go thru the tut. You guys are great. Thx, D

Hi, Solo: This is really appreciated. An excellent reference thread to be cited when the questions arise.

Thanks Solo. We know that this can all be done from PhotoShop, but it is neat to be able to do it directly from SketchUp. In addition to the obvious use for IRender nXt users. We are interested in whether this would be of any value to SketchUp users who just want to put an image behind a SketchUp model.

@ecuadorian said: Mouth-watering. I bought Octane some time ago but I was disappointed by its limitation to just 32 full-color textures. Dale, why is Indigo RT so cheap? Is there a limitation on the number of textures, too? I just found the product comparison chart: http://www.indigorenderer.com/product-comparison Seems like I'll be missing SSS and IES. Is there a roadmap for future Indigo RT features? Qustion for Ecuadorian. What do you mean with: "limitation to just 32 full-color textures"?. In Octane Render

Like said, KT2OBJ is the pretty much the only way to export from KT to SU. http://web.axelero.hu/karpo/ might also work, but some years ago it did fairly poor job.

Hey Whaat, Really good advice there, I'll definitely try exit portals and using layers. Unfortunately I can't until work on monday though! Yep I'll stick at it, dying to achieve the results I see some people do..very cutting edge for archviz.. Any chance you can give me ideas of your personal render times? For interior, exterior etc.? Would be interesting for me Cheers Mike

Thanks a lot guys, I think it makes sense to get a computer built or try to find one with everything I need. This could be a very exciting project.

@unknownuser said: Rendering\Start >>> in Settings >> select "17. Path Tracing - Progressive" (or other progressive method) If it is exterior then 17 will do. If something more complicated you can chose BPT or MLT (18..20) Thank you very much. It's done. I had no time to read user manual, is the first time ever when I use it for rendering... and I was in a big hurry.

Yes. "Overkill" it is. The command started as a part of the unsupported Express Tools (I am not quite sure whether it is still in those or if it was "promoted" into a "regular" command already). AutoCad is similar to SU in that some of its functionality comes from commands that are actually plugins. Anssi

Okay, here is my entry. I love cartoons so why not a chameleon cartoon render. Made with Artisan sculpt tools [image: chameleonlines1.jpg] And a simple render. [image: chameleonthea.jpg]
