It will run noticeably slower that way, so I suggest you also check drivers etc - updating etc might mean it can work faster again...

  • Using "Save As" to create a new file?

I have used the "Save As" command many times in the past, without problems. I have made about 15 incremental copies of File-1, in order to make design changes to the model; that way I can fall back to the saved copy, if needed. The only difference with File-2, is that I "moved" the groups back to layer0. I did this to purge and clean up the model before starting the rendering process. I have not started the purge and file cleaning process, however, I did explode the whole model once it was on layer0. I have a problem with posting the 3d design model file; because the model is a house design that will be for sale. Intellectural property (copyright)thing. If there is a way of posting my designs on the forum without losing my rights to the design; I would love to share then with the members. TIA, Bob

Yes, indeed. Pinstaking method but until a new row of toolbars is needed, you are set for a while.

@tig said: Thoryan That's because you haven't installed the additional required 'LibFredo6', as explained on the tools download page! Get it from the link, extract it and install, and restart... Thanks Tig, that's done the trick nicely!

Hey Guys Push came to shove and I managed to figure this out. As soon as I made the first guideline, I remembered during Gaieus lessons, he showed me how to use them and that's exactly what I did, used it to align each item and print it individually to PDF, all worked perfectly well. Thanks Regards D0me

TIG is absolutely right. it's a fun puzzle to solve. I might add, you've given yourself some basic parameters, but the real trick is to see figure how you can get all of your needs in as little square footage (meterage?)as possible. Most people tend to way overbuild because they think they need a lot of space to do relatively few things. Try and figure out how do make spaces do double or triple duty. Dont think of a room as only having one function. (case in point. .. dining rooms!) Have fun and Good luck. ' Darn. . .I would've really likee to see the cartoon character thing in there.

Some plugins also need to be turned on, or the toolbars to be shown. First (on PC), go to the Window Menu and open "Preferences" and look for the "extensions" tab. Scroll through the extensions and make sure they are all turned on. Many plugins do not use this extension manager, so do not be surprised if your plugins are not listed here. Then go to the "View" menu and go to "Toolbars" and make sure that any toolbars for your plugins are turned on. Oh also, you need to restart sketchup after installing plugins. If neither of those help, then definitely post images of your plugins folder. Good luck, Chris

Hi Guys, are there anyone on these boards familiar with roofing geometry? Could become a very interesting discussion topic?

Indeed SU can only import pure geometry from dwg/dxf. Have a look at this plugin: maybe it can import more things but not necessarily what you want: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=23002 LO cannot currently import these formats - maybe in the future.

I'm going to go with a "yes". I know people have tied it to sql before. I'm currently involved in a project where I make a lot of xml "database" files of my model. Its definitely possible, especially if you already are a database person. I'm more of a photographer, so the database interaction is frustrating for me. But for you, it should be a breeze!

@tomb85 said: ...When i copy and move the same image somewhere on the same plane, the image is no longer glued onto this plane, and is no longer visible. Just like the same you get when I do rightclick on the image > unglue..... After "manipulating" the image it ends up unglued on the other side of the face. A workaround to copy (instead of multiple imports) the image and have it still glued to the same or any other face is: isolate the image plus a small oversized portion of the face that it is glued to. So draw a rectangle around it, preferably starting at the image's origin and extending the other side(s) of the image. (you need to be able to select that small face and it's edges later). Select little rectangular face plus image, and copy to (on) any other face. select (double click) on the small face to get face+edges and delete. the remaining image has the same 'glue to' propertie as the original. You could even save the small face+imageas a (not necessarily 'glue to') component for multiple use later. Both methods are simple and fast.

@gaieus said: Press the Z key - your cursor will change to a magnifier glass (this is the Zoom tool). Hold Shift and click on the screen and pull the cursor up and down. This will change the Field of View (FOV). In the meanwhile, if you look at the measurement toolbar at the bottom right, you will notice that the FOV setting is changing. Now you can even type a desired number (do not click in there just type) like 35 and press Enter. This will get you back to some "normal looking" FOV setting. The higher this number is, the more "fish eye" effect ou have (can be good for interiors) Yes that fixed it! Thanks a lot!!!!

Ok I got to thinking that might not have been the right response. The arch is already engaged with other geometry? Window>Entity Info came to mind, and reset segment number. But this is just speculation from a distance. Still may not be what you want.
