Well, for anyone coming across this thread, I'm abandoning this issue. I've searched the vray forums, and followed those to other sites as far as I can, and It seems there is no easy way to reproduce these effects without knowledge of texturing. The files seem to be included so that ppl with skill can load the seperate images into 3dsmax and make their own version from the source files. I've hurt my brain just trying to get that far, I'm not even gonna bother trying to mess with the files. I've gone over to twilight, which seems much easier to get the simple but good results I'm looking for. I'm not trying to take a college course to get this better, and it seems that's the only thing that'll get me the real results I want. Thanks for both of your responses

There was a similar question some days ago, perhaps you can find some hints there...

Command key (⌘) + P does not work in MAC OS webdialog for unknown reason. I will add a button with window.print() to the webdialog.

@cotty said: With the attached image, you can do it like in this screencast... See image above) Thanks Cotty, that is exactly what I ment. I didn't have the right transparent png at hand. The texture can be resized to show any grid one needs, even X and Y independently Jim, if you are going to follow Box's suggestion I would advice you to go for limited construction lines, (limited in length) made by a plugin, written by Jim Foltz. See his blog and look for 'Construction Line Tool': http://sketchuptips.blogspot.nl/p/my-plugins.html Thing is that with a few (not even that much, really) infinite guides in your model you might get lost in modeling space when orbiting. Even 'Zoom Extent' would not bring your model back until you delete all infinite guides.

Hi For complex roof plan, first make a face of the common pitching point (fascia line) then offset a given known distance, then select the inner plane and auto-fold the correct height to make all the hips, valleys, then use the methods outlined above this is for a roof with all the same pitch Philip

Try Cubic Bezier from Fredo's BZ_Spline set.

No problem ! Just take your time to discover the tools and play with them. I believe you could use the FFD plugin with simple lines and the use the Follow me tool if that is what you want. Happy Sketching !

The images are too small for me to tell anything for sure but they look like they could have been done with a combination of SketchUp and LayOut.

@mikedd said: Thats works Thank you The 'Hide' does make planes invisible one by one. Also when switching between scenes, hide unfortunately isn't consistantly saved like other features/options/properties when the hidden parts (here = section plane) are inside (nested) grouped environment. So you may still have to toggle the icon off. This toggles all planes off and this setting can be saved per scene. See the 'Scene Manager'.

Draw some symbols in Layout and save to a scrapbook. Share it here and get kudos... Others have shared similar scrapbooks...

If simplicity counts and your context menu is not overloaded the Extend11.rb at the bottom of linked thread may fit your needs. http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=163150#p163150

How can one create a plugin for something that is not accessible? The main problem is not how to access the models, why the models are not free give-aways: Google licenses them from different commercial content providers or creates them on their own. If we could take them, it would be (unfortunately) pirating. Interesting is that OSM has some efforts to make geospacial data available under free licenses. This is what we need, and it seems governments/administrations are more likely to release data into the open rather to an open organization than under the control of a proprietary company.

thanks, it works perfect. (the textures aren't all in one model, but that doesn't make much difference, shouldn't even take 5 minutes of effort now)
