Hi, yet another version (see attached). Note that this seems to be a perfect example of the only exception when you should not work in scale 1:1. SU tends to "miss" some small faces when already working in millimetres (1/16 inches). This is especially true when using the follow me and intersect tools (they would end up with really small faces sometimes). Also, the follow me tool has some glitches when following arcs (it tends to draw/create the faces perpendicular to the arc and therefore leaving you with some overextruded shapes). cl_shelf_G.skp

I was able to import my prefs. to my laptop without any problem but at work I was using someone else's computer and I tried to import the same prefs from the same jump drive and it it wouldn't import. I also had this same problem with a school computer.

This program is amazing, still on the first day and finally have some time to mess around with it. It has almost every basic tool I depended on in a CAD Environment. Good times.

So the bezier spline bundle you mean (BTW that's Fredo6 not Rick). As Remus says; activate the toolbar from the View > Toolbars emnu.

@unknownuser said: I love the way you are able to make those neet tutorials. You are welcome, I learn things each time I do one. @unknownuser said: I assume that this is in Layout or something? No, just plain SketchUp, I copied many others here. Click 'Zoom Extents' to see the whole Skippy and you'll get an idea how they work. Bob

Another thing to take note of is the fact that the P/P tool remembers how far it went last time. This means that if you have a number of holes to punch through a wall, you only need to get the first one correct....all the others can be done automatically; simply by double-clicking on them with the P/P tool. It's also a useful trick when pulling up surfaces that have a regular height difference...like steps.

If you happened to select "Use High-Accuracy HLR" from the Print Quality settings, shadows and textures won't print, as the setting outputs only raw vector data to the printer. The result is similar to using the PDF or EPS options when exporting a 2D image. The other print quality settings should print shadows normally. Anssi

Larry, you can always give credits to the members who you "borrowed" the material from... That's always a neat (and quite popular) way of dealing with this.

Hi Keth, What Remus says (or more detailed): when you are not logged in, you can see a line "To see these forums when logged in, you need to join your custom usergroups." In order to see the woodworking subforum, go to your User Control Panel (top left of the board index if this link won't work) and join the woodworking usergroup. Please, note that you can join a bu8nch of subforums there but for some reason (it's coded into the forum software) only one at a time. And of course, welcome to the forums!

Hi J, This is a know issue in SU (in fact you even got the "name" of it right), please, read this article about possible solutions. Also, if your model (area) should not be as big as described above, make sure there are no "stray lines" (resulted from sloppy drawing in a CAD program) somewhere far-raf away. Even a couple of cms/inches line fragments can cause this. Edit: the easiest way to find some remote stray lines that may be the "culprit" is to "Select all" (Edit menu or the "classical" Ctrl+A) and then zoom to extent. You will see odd selections far away (provided that you are in an editing context of a possibly grouped geometry).

I wrote a whole long detailed answer and accidently hit the back button on my mouse and lost it all. So I apologize but this one will be brief, but hopefully succint. To find the VCB which appears at the bottom right hand side, click on the "maximize" icon at the top right of your working window of SketchUp. ( You may have SketchUp slightly minimize. To move items successfully do NOT use the move tool by clicking on any old surface of the object. Click on the point you wish to align with another point. Click on endpoints or midpoints to align and snap to other endpoints and midpoints. To stop SketchUp from wanting to snap to things that are too far away, change your Snapping precision. Window>Model info>Units. Change precison and snapping measures for Length units and angle Units to something much smaller and you will find you won't be forced to snap to some "gross" measure anymore. Surfaces that have been created on another surface and then moved away are actually still attached. same goes for components. You will only be able to move off these surfaces in the same plane anyway. According to the rules of "sticky" geometry SketchUp should really be distorting the original surface and edges when you move the smaller surface off, but it doesn't because there are just too many 'folds" that it would need to make. Instead SketchUp just knows that the surface is still attached and behaves accordingly. So if you try to move any part of the original surface, the item that you moved off will be affected as well because it is still attached. To properly move a surface or component off of the original surface, after you have moved it off, right click on it and from the context menu, click on "unglue"

Dear Remus,Pilou,Gaieus and Jean, I'm afraid i haven't found into your replies exactly what i'm searching for. What i need sometimes would be drawing an arc from point A to B and tape the length around the arc in the VCB (in place of the rope), leaving SU decide corresponding radius. // I Know A and B so i know length rope (rope) I know length around the arc (arc it's the value i want. I don't know angle (A), neither Radius (R) // (mathematic is a strange land to me) If i want an arc=t , i have to found R and A with rope value. R= arc/A and R= rope/2sin(A/2) => arc/rope= A /2sin(A/2) >> for me it's the end of the travel // others relations: A = 2 x arcsin(rope/2R) and ???§§§!!!=**@@ [image: arcsin.jpg] Sorry for so trouble
