Thanks, We've been trying to figure out how to make our websites more friendly for users. Someone suggested that our forum posts would be better if we had a photo for our avatar rather then the avatar we are currently using. Also, there has been some debate as to whether we should do more support here on the SketchUcation Forum, (since people don't have to join and watch multiple forums - one for SketchUp and another for the Render Plus add-ons). Some people just don't like the Wiki approach to documentation. We find it very convenient, because it is so very easy to add things to the documentation. When we get a query that someone doesn't understand something, we can update the Wiki very, very quickly. For instance, I changed all the pages in the Bump Map section (6 different pages) yesterday as I reviewed them when posting the link to them. SU Podium can be very easy to use - since it has a single dialog - and only allows a couple of settings - illumination and reflection. Our lighting model, for example, can be very complex - predefined light bulbs, automatic illumination from SketchUp light components, pre-defined lights on the 3D Warehouse, a wizard to create ceiling, floor and table lamps, and finally, user defined lights using glowing materials or glowing faces. Then when you define a glowing face, you can use several lighting models - omni directional, diffuse one sided, directional, or spot effect. The problem with offering powerful options for how to do something is that it makes the product more and more complex. I would appreciate any criticisms or suggestions you or anyone else may have.

@plot-paris said: Jan, I am afraid your serious attempt to state some wishes for SU7 turned into a fun thread worth of the corner bar. I apologize for that! although it is really funny Sorry Plot. I couldn't resist.

@thomthom said: http://www.zermatt.se/ I would rather something that is Open source or at least free. Since the Quake 3 game engine is GPL I live in hope that one day someone will develop a GPL SU to EXE convertor.

Cheers for that possible workaround. I'll check it out. Though, I still wish for a better method in SU. The process really needs to be easier.

I understand what you mean. I asked for the same thing. (http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5556) We can only hope.

Thanks so much Jakob. I guess I will have to content myself with that since I have been "fired" as a customer. Thank you all so very much for your help.

[quote="plot-paris"]Ken, I hope you are aware of the fact, that you can only import images with maximum resolution of 1024 px. anything above that will be scaled down by SU, although the full file size will be added to the SU-file. And that is my problem. I import the image close to 1024, however, when you scale uthe up to size, you get large pixels. That is my wish, since PDF is vector, that it would import into Sketchup and scale up without the large pixels. Thanks for your input. Ken

I would also like to see the "view cube tool" in the top right corner of the screen. makes navigating easier than it currently is with SketchUp's standart views. great idea about the "no clipping" mode. so the Mighty Animation Tool would automatically alter the camera path in order not to get too close to surfaces within the view window.

Being able to move the dimension text would be helpful; I've been doing some work in Layout and it can be a time-wasting pain to get the blasted text in a visible place. Better yet - for my current purposes - would be for the dimensioning to be done in Layout and not in the raw model. I

allthough this may not be useful in most situations... could cause quite some confusion and errors among inexperienced users. would be good perhaps, if you could enable this function - leave it disabled by default, when first installing SketchUp

yes, the components trick is the only method I know so far. works pretty well though, for you can even add additional attributes for indigo or maxwell.

The animated people could be the beginning of something bigger like "Sketch Up world" Me, and I think a lot of people out there are getting bored of the way 3D buildings look like in Google Earth. I admit it was a great idea to create 3D cities and houses and see them in GE, in 3D. BUT I think it is time to realize that SU has much more to offer to the Community then only to serve this (again increasingly boring feature) one purpose online. I would like to see SU evolve into a tool to create fun online 3D worlds and community spaces. Sure there are already a lot of "this" out there but why not use SU and Google Earth in a more progressive/fun way. I would Call this Sketch Up World. With new ideas like trainable people, trains cars boats that can do things and move in this new created space. wouldn't be so bad would it?

I absolutely agree with you, Boofredlay. with a big model the outliner can be crammed with objects. perhaps we find a good solution for organising the structure. I will definitely think about it.

I believe I just didn't understand how layers were working with components. I have now done more testing and I think I understand how and when layer will stay and leave. So, I guess it was me, just not understanding. So now I have been adding alignment lines and faces to my rigging components. Most of my rigging components are organic like in construction, no flat faces or easly obtained alignment references. So now I am adding these faces and lines and making them all active with my Align-Hide layer. So thanks to everyone, I now know how to make the alignment faces and lines stay in compontents and still be on their asigned layer. Thanks Ken
