Thanks TIG, a pity just about everything has to be via a plugin but that's life. I will have to check that plugin.

I think the "reverse" as you say, is there in the LO Document Setup. You can see all the SU files that are referenced in the LO file, unless I am missing something. I have wanted within SU, at least to be able to identify (and open or "go to") the LO files that are referencing a SU file. You have some good points, but I think this simple info would be a start.

All I show in my first post is absolutely possible in SketchUp. There is a script "Get Dimensions" by Jim Foltz showing correct size for bounds of groups and components. A script from Fredo6 "Best fitting bounding box for for a single face" (for 2d elements). Scripts to show size of edges (or lines). (Single drawing elements can be added to "single element groups" inside scripts to extract size with above mentioned tools too). I wander why such a tool did not exist if so widely wished. A tool that collects size info for every drawing element. (I know it will duplicate some of the Entity info fields, but it is OK if the objective is to collect size information in one place.) I'm trying to put all above in a single info label, but my knowledge in programing is too poor. Is there anyone to help with code? ("Help" in my case = someone to write the script) For now I imagine it as small label on screen updated on selection change - like this: [image: EZm0_Label.jpg] Area, volume, names can be added too, but I try to make it as small as possible, so may be as optional rows in the above label. Next step will be a dialog, and changing size (input) to act as resize/scale (relative to current axis location for components and groups).

@pixero said: The great thing is that you can scale a selected object or image without rescaling the entire SU scene. That was true before the change to having to use ctrl. I have often built up a scene by building part of it and then bringing in a photo containing a dimensioned line drawing then scaling it to "real" size: the rest of the models in the scene were not affected by the rescaling of the picture.

I fail to understand why. If you can name something and but it in a catalog, e.g. a window or a car or door handle, then it is a component. If something only makes sense in a certain context, e.g. the slab of a specific floor in a specific building, then it's a group. I think it would only be confusing to blur the line even further.

What I remember after trying to read through it was: 99 percent there, 1 percent tweaks and Photoshop. The rest was lost in the mass of words. Try summerice what you want to some simple points.

@kimi kimi said: On previous versions SketchUp didn't force itself to go in front of other open programs. I mean, if I open a large file, it keeps popping up in front of my PDF viewer for example, or in front of another skp file, or whatever I use. It can be really annoying if you want to open 300 mb file, and it takes 10 minutes. You can't do anything else during that time basically. I just want it to load in the back and not force itself while I'm doing other stuff. I thought it was just me.

There are several possibilities why you might be getting Bug Splats. SU8 doesn't support Win10 and it is not uncommon to hear that users have issues. You don't say what your graphics card is but many Bug Splats occur because of deficiencies in the way the GPU drivers handle (or don't handle) OpenGL. You don't say whether you installed 64-bit SU2016 or not but some GPU drivers don't provide good 64-bit OpenGL support. There have been many reports of problems due to this but users have found switching to 32-bit SketchUp 2016 has gotten around it. Perhaps you'll have better results if you update the GPU drivers or perhaps you need to replace the graphics card. Are you sending in Bug Splats with your e-mail and a description of what you were doing when it occurred. As a current SU2016 Pro user, you could contact Customer support and they should be able to give you a clue about what is causing the splats.

Just had a very quick play and I think it works pretty well. Of course once you have the scene you can turn off the W/mark and merge model and photo post-pro. Well done for the question, having the same problem myself, you got me thinking... ... would love to see how you go... ps: this a direct from SU image export.
