i wish you will develop more on the bugs, i really love to use this 3D software and i just wish that the sketchup will run like the other software that it will not get bugsplat everytime you model something... it's very upset...

I think he simply finds the whole "Bug Splat" thing (as of course EVERYONE must too) plain annoying.

I generally switch off autosave (so It doesn't freeze everything for 5 seconds every 5 mins or so justwhen your're concentrating on some fiddly important bit), and just remember to save after each bit is conquered.

Psychologically, the sudden (and often repeated) apperance of Sketchup's "Bugsplat" message makes one generally more furious the more important the bit is that you're working on when it happens!
...Like when you've spent what seems like an ageselecting a bazillion edges & surfaces, getting them ready to carefully intersect with each other, when, BANG! the irreverent "BugSplat" messsage appears, and you find yourself having to go to the store and buy a new (and hopefully sturdier) monitor to replace the one that you've now thrown out your office window into traffic.

...maybe in some long-distant day, there'll be no more bug-splats... just like one day Windows users won't need Ctrl/alt/del.

          ...one day... (sigh...).

Well, the BS only appears when SU crashes. It would crash without it, too. Would that be better? (There are indeed crashes without BS and the development team is even more interested in those)

I rarely get Bugsplats when using Sketchup in normal mode πŸ˜•
I always save regularly in case something that I do crashes or stalls...
Remember that Sketchup does not Bugsplat unless you do something it doesn't like - left alone it'd just 'sit quietly in the corner' causing no one any trouble at all... πŸ˜‰
Writing or adjusting and then testing scripts, or beta-testing new things can be Bugsplat ridden... and then perhaps useful to Google to send in details... it's better to have these reports than not, but of course best if Bugsplats never occurred at all πŸ˜’

Bing and woz, from reading your posts, it seems that you think that BugSplat is the cause of your crashes. It isn't. It's the vehicle that allows Google to get information about bug-induced crashes so that they might make changes to eliminate those bugs. Disabling BugSplat would mean that bugs are less likely to get fixed.

If you are experiencing frequent and repeated crashes, you need to take a look at what's happening immediately before they occur. Send the splat report to Google with as clear a description of what was happening as you can give.

I don't think that most folks are having frequent and repeated crashes or there would be a lot of posts about them. It might be worth looking at what you've got going on to see if there's something that can be changed or fixed.

As an old boy and a long time user of sketch up
I only just updated my skp to 2016 Pro although I kept pro 8 running on the same machine
just in case (on another license)the machine is an all singing super fast running win 10

In the past I got very few BS'S and generally it was when I Knew what I had done

Since the upgrade both versions give me BS several times in a session and its not when I'm doing something extra ordinary but just the simple stuff I tried a repair but that would not happen and I'm generally cheesed off.Having to revert to the saved version and loosing a lot of time

Looks like I'll have to delete and try a reload any Ideas why this should be happening
another older machine with 8 pro still runs with no BS on windows XP .

There are several possibilities why you might be getting Bug Splats.

SU8 doesn't support Win10 and it is not uncommon to hear that users have issues. You don't say what your graphics card is but many Bug Splats occur because of deficiencies in the way the GPU drivers handle (or don't handle) OpenGL. You don't say whether you installed 64-bit SU2016 or not but some GPU drivers don't provide good 64-bit OpenGL support. There have been many reports of problems due to this but users have found switching to 32-bit SketchUp 2016 has gotten around it.

Perhaps you'll have better results if you update the GPU drivers or perhaps you need to replace the graphics card.

Are you sending in Bug Splats with your e-mail and a description of what you were doing when it occurred. As a current SU2016 Pro user, you could contact Customer support and they should be able to give you a clue about what is causing the splats.
