I shouldn't be generalizing. The idea of 'reaching the sublime' was explained to me by my brother in law who teaches esthetics on a US university. We had long discussions on how to 'rate' art and which parameters to use when classifying a work as a piece of art .. He explained me the meaning of the word 'sublime' and how it related to US culture. But I guess the States is a big place with lots of other view points and approaches on this.

IES is a b@stard to use. I worked with some consultants who modelled the environmental performance of one of my buildings with it. There are big problems with creating the building model though. Hopefully this plugin gives them a better way of doing that. IES is also very slow in its analysis. AFAIK it is a tool aimed at engineers rather than architects and requires entry of some quite technical data, as it takes account of the proposed heating systems and lots of HVAC stuff. The consultants I worked with have stopped using IES and replaced it with a system called Hevacomp. Hevacomp has been bought by Bentley, and is based on the EnergyPlus analysis engine, albeit heavily modified. I have tried the EnergyPlus SketchUp beta. It kind of works, but this sort of thing isn't easy. I don't think IES is going to be your thing if you want to do energy analysis with SU. I would be really interested to hear anyone else's views though. [Edit: I just noticed that there is a free application called VE-Ware on the IES site which works with both the SketchUp and Revit plugins. Something to try out next week I think...]

I finally found the reason. It is a shadow problem. Even if you have the shadows off that strange plane appears unless you disable each face from casting and even receiving them ¡¡ ..well..it would be fixed, I hope. Edit: It does not work the same all the time though

Ahh, thanks Mike. Well, I agree, that response from google is a bit underwhelming because that was the very first thing I tried too and it definitely does not work. I'll see if I can drum up a bit more support from them for you. I think this is a great bug that should be looked at. Chris

Yes I have the same in all DWG exports: The units get exported right ( 1 mm in SU = 1 unit in the DWG file) BUT the scale flags in the DWG file all have Imperial values (Measurement, for instance, is set to 0), so if you have your AutoCad set up to recognize the scale values (as per default), everything gets imported 25.4 times too big. It would be cool to see some top renders done with the engine in SU to really see how far it can be stretched. I personally had trouble getting good output from it (demo), as the render lingo is different from the other render packages I use, making it more difficult to climb the learning curve. My first impression is that a lot of tweaking is involved to get the light as you want. (EDIT): It seems I get the render engines mixed up. I tested the Render Plus demo and not the 'Sketchup rendering system'... So many launches of different render plugs on the market seems to confuse me. I mean: Turbosketch, Irender, Accurender nXt,IDX renditioner, Render Plus,Sketchup Rendering System.... Is anyone still following?....

Yeah - we are in the process of tweaking the Board Index and we haven't made an announcement yet for we are not ready. Please, be patient (I know you figured out but everybody). We will explain all changes and hope you'll like them because they give more flexibility and possibility for you to customize your board index as well as use new features. I know that every change is a bit conhfusing at the first but this time we really wanted to do it as logical as it is possible from Coen and me

Ditto to Dylan - I've had a 2405 for two years and it's just about perfect. Don't know about 2407 but I've had several Dell flatscreens (as well as Samsungs). Dell seems to be best value.

im no expert, but if you bought your router recently, it probably came with some network security software. the way to check it is by logging in to your router. You do this by going into your web browser and typing in the ip address of your router into the address bar. i tihnk you should be albe to find the ip address of the router in the manual. have a look at all the settings on the router and with a bit of luck there might be some security stuff. jsut a bit of general info on wifi security: the most secure is MAC address filtering, this onyl allows the computers you specify to use your network. Next is WEP and WAP this are just different systems where you ave to enter a password, i think WEP is more secure than WAP, but im not 100% And most important, good luck!
