I have got the same problem with the same build as mentioned by Brodie. It doesn't want to start te next render. Anyone have a solution for this problem? I could use some sleep, batch render would help!

The build described is an old build. Id recommend upgrading to the latest version of V-Ray for Sketchup, Service Pack 3, which is on the website under downloads: http://www.chaosgroup.com/en/2/downloads.html. After you log in you'll have access to the latest build.

Could you pack the scene (Plugins>V-Ray> Pack Scene) and reshare it with the community in another post. Id like to test this and see whats actually going on, but you are missing a lot of information in the last shared model.

Also, make sure you are running on the latest service release. We are currently on Service pack 3.

You can also open the .vrimg file directly in the Frame buffer and save it out as any file type you would like.

Sometimes when creating new materials a disconnect can occur between V-Ray and Sketchup. Try Going to Plugins> Debugging> Force Sync All Materials

Thanks Ted for the comment. and I did contact sales and support from chaosgroup!
But the sad reality is They did tell me I have to pay for a new license fee, because its due to abuse of dongle license use. I think it really applies to Asian market. I told them it's not fair and it doesn't make sense. It really hurts customers at the end. a policy can be bad. you have to be brave enough to tell them it's wrong. I still don't like that policy at all, even though I really enjoying using vray for su.

I'm glad I found my dongle at the end.

There are some specific requirements that have to be met for us to replace the Dongle. I think your case was a special one which is why we were not going to replace it. I'm going to send you a PM with some more specific instructions.

I contacted them and the reseller. They really wanted me to purchase a new license. That's their policy. But somehow they got me a one year rental license for about 30% of the price of a new license. In the condition that I could upgrade to vray 3.0 in a year. If vray comes out in a year!

That's why I said don't lose the dongle!!
I thought they would just give me a new USB dongle.
      But it's not.

      Hi,

That is not our policy at all. I'm glad to hear you found it, but please contact us directly at sales@chaosgroup.com and let them know your initial issue and who your re-seller is because you should only have to pay for a replacement dongle.

Why not just use V-Ray in SketchUp and save that hassle?

      32bit memory limit.

Try the 64bit render workflow: http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAY2SKETCHUP/64+Bit+Workflow

    • RE: Weird yellow colour when I render!

This is related to bad geo-location information. Where are you geolocating to? Because Sketchup is set in CO. If you set your geo-location to somewhere on the opposite side of the globe you get weird lighting results out of the V-Ray sun. Where is this model located?

    • RE: HELP! "Unable to edit light - no light asset was provided"

      @kturtle said:

I have been modeling a three-story lobby. I have been embedding V-Ray lights into components so that I only have to create one elevator lobby ceiling that is then repeated on all three floors. I have had no issues with this until a few minutes ago when I got this same "Unable to Edit Light- No Light Asset Was Provided" error message. At first it was just on one new light; I was trying to copy one component that consisted of my can and spotlight, make it unique, change the lighting lumen level, and then use for a different area. I got this error message, but was still able to go to my previous components and tweak the lighting. Then it started spreading, and all of a sudden I get the error on all lights.
If anyone's heard a fix for this issue, please share. Keeping my fingers crossed that shutting down SU and re-starting will do the trick!...

An update to the latest service release (SP2) should fix the problem. A fast fix is usually closing Sketchup and opening it back up.

      Ted,

are you sure that changing the Fresnel to ridiculous value is the real solution here?

i'd be more concerned with the environment settings and their multipliers, and also the lighting used.

larszzz, if you posted a screenshot (of the render and/or environment settings), that would be immensely helpful.

Not knowing anything about a users scene, yes, changing the Fresnel IOR is what I would change initially. 3 is a good number to start with for highly reflective glass material, not ridiculous at all. You work back from there to get less reflection as needed.

    • RE: Batch render

To use the batch render tool in V-Ray 2.0 you no longer need to check the batch render button in your Globals roll-out menu. What you may want to do is set your scene delay to 0, and turn off scene transitions all together. That could be whats causing it. It may be getting stuck between scenes.

    • RE: How to use .VISMAT files for Vray for Sketchup

Sorry guys, vray.com is not a Chaos Group website. It is a reseller that we are not directly associated with, and they still have a lot of old (bad) materials available on the site. If you are looking for the V-Ray Material collection you can log in and download it from the materials section of http://www.chaosgroup.com. You may also be interested in the website http://www.sketchuptexture.com, they are also not associated with Chaos Group, but it is a very handy resource.

      I hope this helps!

    • RE: Glass reflection

      Hi Lars,

Try bumping the Fresnel reflections up to 3.0. Fresnel controls how reflective things are, so metallic items start at about 10-20 and range up to 60. If I'm making a mirror Ill go all the way to 80 with a diffuse color of dark grey or black.

      Hope that helps!
