I would say it depends on the size of the SSD, the amount of data and your data structure. Of course basically as much as possible of your work files on the SSD. Durability shouldn't be a problem at all at these data rates. I have all my data files (project files, documents, textures, models, materials, installers) stored on my file server. My recent projects and presorted textures and models on a 500GB SSD on the server (in RAID1). And the rest on HDD. All backuped to HDD. (so the network connection is the limiting factor)

I solve the mystery! Thea studio itself was set to run in compatibility mode. So, when I changed that to normal, it works from SU. Thank you both for your helping me clean my mess.

@Srx - is this what you are referring to in your original post? Do you use solids for modelling the original shapes? If 2x yes, this might be a simple plugin I think. Edit: or not so simple as I thought. There is no easy offset method for loops / contours in the API. This could be extremelly good news. I just don't like the assumption leveraged on the article about the focus being on Revit. It's very welcome that Sketchup and Revit work well in a BIM workflow, but still, most of the world is using 2D dwg files for both work and documentation and both Sketchup and Layout would benefit much more from the vast Autocad userbase, than Sketchup alone on Revit's growing but still behind userbase. Also the amount of CAD software that adheres to the Autocad standard is something to take acount for, Revit has a more specific target group.

Quite likely, and the potential for anything to be done about it is approximately diddly squat. Our politicians hate to have to make a decision that puts them on the spot so will dither as usual and people will continue to die for no good reason. FCOL, our politicians cannot even prevent incompetent surgeons from operating with standards that should shame the surgeons themselves into retirement. What politicians ARE good for is sitting on the sidelines and patting each others reputation on the back like the good ol' boys they truly are, nothing changes nor will it ever.
