      Trying to use this and it isn't working for this particular curve. The curve was a hand made line that I used TIG's weld tool to make it a curve. Weird thing is, it worked on the other curve just fine. Any thoughts? The object is a group, solid too btw, 0 errors with FixtIt. The line is shown as a curve as it has been welded. I have tried both closed and open curves. TY if you can help πŸ˜„

      I export a blender mesh with vertex painting texture, and use this but nothing shows up at all. QUESTION: How small can an object be before sketchyphysics no longer recognizes it as accurate or active, etc? I made a model and when I scale it down things do not move anymore. I even changed the densities etc but they need really high densities to, for example, drop. That makes everything very heavy.

      So, it seems as if light object (say if I were to model a ping pong ball at 1/8th scale[example]), the physics are no longer accurate or at times even work.

      Just need to know what those limits are so maybe I can model things larger, then scale them afterwards, knowing they will work still. Thank you very much! 😎

    • Just showing my Deck Design

      Hi all, I just wanted to show the deck design I am working on for the front porch of my house. This is the first time I've done this before, so I am currently finding the cutlist plugin to find out my layouts of pieces and such next πŸ˜„ Hope you like so far.

      The plugins I used:
      -joint push pull (to unify the 3d dimensions of multiple similar objects)
      -curvizard (to make single lines)
      -Edge Tools 2 (to check for strays and missed connections)

      You can do Triple click to select all then shift double click to deselect the face and all it's edges that you want to keep and delete the rest.

      That sounds very workable, thank you πŸ˜„ Ill try it now and I figured it could be done internal so should work πŸ˜„ Thanks again!

    • Possible for multi delete of these within a few click?

      I was wondering if it is possible in sketchup, either natively or through a plugin of sort, to delete multiple (sometimes more than 40) internal faces of an isocontour rather than inside of a 3d model.

      The faces that are not highlighted, for example, around a larger face with detail. Kind-of "secondary" internal faces if properly put.

      Maybe even more than secondary as well, idk. Just thought of this today to try to see if I can speed of a process, instead of highlighting all then delete, or individual, etc.

      Thank you πŸ˜„

      Here is a snapshot of an example I would like to test it on:

      I will read how to change resolution in case I need those smaller ones that you mentioned too. Hopefully, for 3d printing purposes, it will be useful to keep πŸ˜„ Thank you much for your help!

      I think your model would benefit from a higher resolution, as the terrain is basically flat with some very local deeps.

      Also, you can always generate the terrain with its new isocontours (which would be clean), and then

      • extract the group with these isocontours
      • use them to regenerate a new terrain, possibly with another resolution.

      Fredo

      That is great info thank you πŸ˜„ Whqat would I likely have to do to generate new isocontours? Do you refer to within the same plugin? I can see howthat would benefit for both generation and time of generation without errors so I'd like to try that method for sure because my SU crashed with this last test. Likely a maxed memory usage idk but new isos would be ideal I agree with this resolution need. Thank you very much again for everything πŸ˜„

      EDIT: The new iso's might also rid the use of artificial contours I would imagine too, to that would be less work for my end if it works out well with generation πŸ˜„ In other words, I wouldnt have to manually erase them one by one after alignments πŸ˜›

      Difficult to judge, but what is sure is that

      • you need to clean up the crossing lines, and also 'artificial' contours that do not seem to belong to the terrain itself.
      • A lot of the small rounds may be useless, unless you use a high-resolution grid

      Anyway, the best is to try and see.

      I did just that, and the biggest difference that made no errors were the artificial contours, specifically the very outer border. WHich makes sense because z x and y would all equal the same (therefore an error), so once I deleted those and did a clean (based on the instructions of iso usage), it worked very well!

      Check it out πŸ˜„

    • RE: SketchABEC

      Here is my goal:

      I create a model in sketchup using whatever means necessary to make a mesh( i.e. grouping, tags, labeling, names, etc).

      Then with a plugin I can export certain data needed as a txt file for ABEC3.
      The text files contain the vertices of the model(s) as nodes with Cartesian locations x, y, z in a list with each group name as a tag.

      Then I can use ABEC3 to alias the mesh into the scripting txt for solving.

      If anyone is familiar with ABEC and its required scripts, you will know how time consuming and confusing it may be to create these files manually πŸ˜›

      This is part of an example solving script in ABEC3:

      Elements "Enclosure-Exterior"
      RefNodes="NF"
      SubDomain=1
      SwapNormals=true
      101 2201 2204 2203 2202 // rear wall
      102 2001 2201 2202 2002 // top wall
      // 103 2004 2003 2203 2204 // bottom wall (remove because of IB)
      104 2002 2202 2203 2003 // side wall

      Baffle "Exterior"
      Subdomain=1
      EdgeLength=70mm,30mm
      Vertices=2004,2003,2002,2001 "NF"
      101 Ref="Cone Front" x=0 y=370.0mm // 350mm + 20mm
      102 Ref="Vent Aperture" x=0 y=120.0mm // 100mm + 20mm

      Diaphragm "Cone front"
      DrvGroup=1001 // Driving group link to observation stage
      SubDomain=1 // Front side belongs to sub-domain 1
      Side=Front // Creates elements for the front side of the diaphragm
      EdgeLength=50mm
      dD=250mm // Diameter of cone
      tD1=50mm // Inner depth of cone to base of dust cap
      dD1=70mm // Diameter of dust cap
      hD1=25mm // Height of dust cap

      Diaphragm "Vent Aperture"
      DrvGroup=1002 // Driving group link to observation stage
      SubDomain=1 // This side belongs to sub-domain SubDomain=1
      Side=Front
      RectType=Rectangle
      WD=250mm
      HD=30mm
      Meshing=Delaunay
      EdgeLength=25mm

      and a nodes text file as a subdomain of the script to identify the node labels:

      Nodes "NF"
      Scale=1mm

      // Exterior--------------------
      // Front wall
      2001 0.0 0.0 590.0 // 590 = 200+250+100 + 220mm
      2002 0.0 160.0 590.0 // 160 = 0.5
      (300 + 20mm) (symmetry)
      2003 0.0 160.0 0.0
      2004 0.0 0.0 0.0

      // Rear wall
      2201 -340.0 0.0 590.0 // 340 = 300 + 2*20mm
      2202 -340.0 160.0 590.0
      2203 -340.0 160.0 0.0
      2204 -340.0 0.0 0.0

      Currently, in sketchup I cannot create these manually at the moment, but I am DEEPLY spending a lot of time trying to learn how to. So far I have got a little success in at least showing the mesh in ABEC3. But i do not know how to create the scripts because sketchup doesnt use nodes, but vertices. So, labeling and communication of the mesh is difficult at the least.

      I will keep testing as is, but if you have any knowledge of this process, I appreciate the time very very much! If not, I appreciate you reading this anyhow πŸ˜„ Hope all is well!

    • SketchABEC

      Does anyone have the rbz plugin of the sketchABEC extension for ABEC1? I used to own it but on another computer and it is not available anywhere else I see.

      If interested, for developers, ruby scripters, if you are able to create something that I might be able to use for even the ABEC3 version for exporting to ABEC3, I will pay for your time as well as long as the plugin works as intended.

      Thank you if you can help

      Hello, I am working on a 3D vehcile model, and I am trying to get the base of the model to work with the windows.
      My skp you can play around with it πŸ™‚
      Since the windows are flat, I noticed while putting them in "place", the curvature of my front edging is pretty ugly due to projection.
      Another viewpoint for clarification
      I don't currently know of a working plugin for sketchup 8 (wont change version btw πŸ˜‰ ), that can project the window curve well or even so, how do you think I can fix this to make it work?

      Hello TIG and others,

      I have a question about the COG. I tried using it to get the COG information for a plane design and it only created a grouped stack of planes on Z axis top to bottom of the solid. I used a simple square solid and same effect. Here is a pic of what it creates. Not sure what I am looking at but I do find this useful too for other ideas Im working on for crafting lol.

      Using: Sketchup v8 (i know....google version but I like it)
      P.S. I did have this working once before, years ago.
