I imported a 3D model from Datacad into SU8. The model has a 'sheen' to it. When I add to the model the new stuff displays OK.
What do I need to do to the imported model to remove the 'sheen'?

Can I save more than one layer state. I am asked what layer state I want to over right when I try to save a new layer state. I do not get an option not to over right a layer state.

Thanks for your help. I reduced the number of files to about 60. I also turned on fast feedback. Hardware acceleration was turned on. SU now seems to run faster.

There are approx 90 (*.rb) files in my Plugin folder.

Lately I have noticed SU8 (Paid) being slower than usual snapping to points. So I have being thinking (dangerous for me).
Does the number of plugins stored in the Plugins folder affect the performance of Sketchup.

Hello all. When I am working on a Sketchup (V8 Pro)project I save a file to a different name for each day that I am working on a file. The file name has the date saved included in the name. This allows me to revert back to older files whenever designs revert back to older versions. However, I have been thinking whether this is the best method, especially when Xreffing and /or using Layout.

What methodology do others use out there?

I get the attached error message when I try to view the videos. Any ideas what might be causing this. I have never had a problem viewing UTube movies till now. I am using W7 Home Professional.

Further development. Clipping becomes acceptable if the Field of View is set to 1. So I am wondering how do I determine what to set the Field of View setting to?

Ok, I played with Hardware Acceleration. I had to leave it on otherwise SU8 slowed to a crawl.
The development is on a rural block (about 10 acres) so I moved the model so that the house is at the origin. It is hard to tell whether clipping has improved.
So how far away from the origin is too far so that clipping occurs. Are we talking hundreds of metres or kilometres.

Pardon my ignorance. I should know better. However, I am finding that recently in SU8 Paid version that Guides tend to dissapear when I zoom in too close.I have played around with the Field Of View setting and use Perspective camera view.

I would like feedback please as to settings that SU8 users implement to minimise clipping. Thanks.

I have purchased quite a lot of plugins from various developers and believe that they should be suitably rewarded for their efforts. I also do not like subscriptions. I prefer to pay the right price outright. However, I would still subscribe in an instant if the plugin didn't require an internet connection to operate. This plugin will not work when I am in locations that have no internet connection, which is fairly often.

I do not know why subscriptions are used as there is no requirement for me to continue a subscription when a newer plugin with more bells and whistles is released by another developer.

Hopefully the developer will release a version that does not require internet connection to operate.

Thanks Sonder and Bmike. So it is my understanding that Any building component that I want displayed in the section view should be modelled in Sketchup rather than trying to draw it in Layout. Also linework in layout should be limited to annotation type lines. Is this correct?

I have tried using Layout for construction docs. All went well until I tried to draw sectional views through a house. The problem I found was that Layout was too slow when trying to offset lines and draw lines using polar coordinates (ie distance and angle method of drawing lines).
What do other Layout users do in this situation?
