No of Plugins V SU Performance
-
Lately I have noticed SU8 (Paid) being slower than usual snapping to points. So I have being thinking (dangerous for me).
Does the number of plugins stored in the Plugins folder affect the performance of Sketchup.

It can... How many do you have?
More to the point are they all up to date and not conflicting with one another? or even obsolete because another plugin has encompassed them?

There are approx 90 (*.rb) files in my Plugin folder.

That's quite a few in my opinion.
Make sure you have the newest video card drivers for your video card.
Another thought is it could be an OpenGL setting. Go to preferences and then go to OpenGL. Try changing fastfeedback. Make sure Hardware acceleration is selected as well. See if that helps.

Thanks for your help. I reduced the number of files to about 60. I also turned on fast feedback. Hardware acceleration was turned on. SU now seems to run faster.

It's not really about the number of plugins. It depends on what each plugin does.
V-Ray for SketchUp makes SU slow to start for instance - for that reason I normally keep it disabled and load it only when I need to render.

Ok I will keep that in mind.
Thanks
