I'm assuming you mean the native context-menu tools...
If you have a face that is reversed [i.e. it's showing back-material in View > Monochrome mode], you need to select it and then use the context-menu item to Reverse it.
Note that if it's part of a larger surface that has been 'smoothed', then you'll first need to use View > Hidden Geometry > ON, so you can pick the face on its own.
You can pick several faces using a fence or the the modifier keys and reverse them all at once...
If you have a number of connected faces and some of them are reversed, then you can select one of the faces that is correctly oriented and chose the context-menu item to Orient.
This then adjusts all faces so that they then match the one selected face's orientation.
Note that if the faces do not all touch, or some edges have more that two faces associated with them, then the Orient method can give you unexpected results...
