Ever since we started using sketchup we've had one re-occuring problem. The colors picked from the native menu does 'not' look anything like it does when placed on a face. This causes great frustration, and several arguements between us and clients because its impossible to tell the client that the red they chose is the red on the model even though it look orange.

      Non-matching color

The biggest problem color is beige. Once placed on a model it invariably turns to more of a skin tone. I realize that it probably has to do with Sketchup's GI because it changes color as the model is rotated. But is it possible to turn it off?

      Thanks in advance,
      Rob

    • RE: Finding Model in Orthographic View (with Vray Camera)

If you keep it in perspective view but change the angle to very close to 0 say 1deg you might be able to trick Vray into rendering it with physical camera still.

Yup, that did the trick. I just deleted the TT_Lib2 folder from the 'Compatibility' folder and everything starts up as it should. Thanks for the tip, and the wonderful plugins.

Actually I do. So what exactly does this other folder do? Does it store older versions of the files that are in it? I've never noticed it before. But now that I see it I noticed there are other plugins that I couldn't find before.

Found out what the problem is...or rather..solution. I guessing the problem has to do with administrative rights somehow. Because if I set the Sketchup 8 Desktop shortcut to 'Run with administrative rights' then there is no error. Not sure what in the system.rb requires administration rights other than what I have but it works for now I guess.

    • RE: [Plugin] CleanUp

I loved the first iteration of this plugin. I've tried to install the new version and receive this error on startup:

      Error Loading File tt_cleanup.rb
undefined method is_windows?' for TT::System:Module Error Loading File tt_guide_tools.rb undefined method is_windows?' for TT::System:Module

I've removed both the plugin and the TT_lib2 folder and re-installed both but no change. Any ideas? I'm really looking forward to getting this plugin to work, you do great work, keep it up.

      Thanks in advance,

Using Windows Vista Home Premium with administrator access yes. I think it might be a conflict with another plugin perhaps. I'll check it out and let you know what I find out.

Yes, I re-downloaded the latest revision of TT_Lib2 (2.5.3) and Cleanup (3.1.3). Should I try to remove and re-install the TT_Guide tools as well?

What about a tiled steel sheets with rivets around it. Might be a little cliche but who knows. Other than that many Sci-fi shows I've seen seem to want a clean 'Hospital' look with shiny white walls.

      just my suggestion is all.

I usually have a 'hidden' layer setup by default, and place all those boundary lines on that and just turn it off.

And if you look there is also a listing of Vray Rhino material list on the left hand side.

    • Vray 1.05.30 Glass

Hi I was wondering if someone can help me. I'm looking at adding a bump map to a glass material I have. The problem is this, since the glass material has no actual texture (just straight color) there is no UV map to help dimension the bump map. I've tried adding a second diffuse layer with a texture and 100% transparency but that doesn't help as SU seems to only recognize the first diffuse map. Any other solutions? Oh and to top it off the glass is only 30% transparency (the client find real glass too dark).

    • RE: Textures in hidden line?

But isnt it because 90% of SU native textures are raster images (jpg, tiff, png etc). There are a couple of sketchy textures but I'm not sure if they are vector or raster images also. And I'm guessing when SU uses Hidden Line mode it disables all raster textures.

When you say you need more Subdivisons in your IR Map, does this mean where Vray SU says "HSph. Subdivs"?

    • RE: [Obsolete] BZ__Animation (divider for flight path)

I used this workflow a couple of days ago and it worked well. But I tried to re-create it today and I cant seem to get the "Polyline divider for animation" choice, just the Polyline choice after I weld it all together. If I go into the Draw - Bezier menu and select the Polyline Divider for Animation is just allows me to create a new path which I dont want. Any ideas?

      EDIT:
I found the problem. It was with one of the corners I had filleted. Works fine now thanks.

    • RE: [REQ] Select ALL by material

I looked at your script Tig, not sure it will do what I need. Yours selects and replaces texture to another texture. I need the faces selected so I can globally change a property on all the faces with a certain texture on it. SU Podium's reflectivity to be exact. Its a property on the face, not the texture.

    • [REQ] Select ALL by material

I'm almost positive I've seen this script before but I cant find it anywhere. I'm looking for a script that will allow me to select all faces with a material on it, even if it contained inside a group or component. This will help me, for example, to change the reflectivity for my glass texture in Podium.

    • [REQ] Time dependant component

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the best place to request this.
I'm currently using Sketchup to run several shadow studies. The shadows are animated with each scene representing 15minute intervals. I need a way of setting either text or a clock component that shows the SU time/date based on the time set in the Shadow Settings. As it is now I have it setup manually switching layers with text on it, suffice to say this is a tedious way to do something I hope is rather simple.
