Vray 1.05.30 Glass
-
Hi I was wondering if someone can help me. I'm looking at adding a bump map to a glass material I have. The problem is this, since the glass material has no actual texture (just straight color) there is no UV map to help dimension the bump map. I've tried adding a second diffuse layer with a texture and 100% transparency but that doesn't help as SU seems to only recognize the first diffuse map. Any other solutions? Oh and to top it off the glass is only 30% transparency (the client find real glass too dark).

If there is no UV mapping then all maps will be 1"x1". That means if you set a map's Repeat value to 0.1 - then it'll be 10"x10".
It will always be inches as that is the internal unit of Sketchup - regardless of your model units.
That is one way of doing it.@rspierenburg said:

Add it as the first. Glass had a 100% diffuse anyway. The glass colour is set by the refraction layer.
If you have a 2D glass and must use diffuse to tint your glass then add it as the second layer - which will then be visible under your 100% transparent main diffuse. -
Thanks, that worked perfectly. Good to know about the Vray texture size. You rock

Every length unit in VfSU refer to inches. Displacement multiplier for instance 1.0 = 1 inch.
Override focal distance - inches.
