RE: Generic Handymax Bulk CarrierIt's crazy to see the scale of these ships. Great stuff so far

RE: Very clever little house stairsThat's really clever. Probably cause planning authorities and insurance to implode

RE: Old Model Architectural.I think you see a big improvement in the next Rayscaper Beta build. Thomas has identified and fixed a major issue related to how materials were rendering mesh normals. From my tests on this new build I am getting more consistent and believable material results. It was something that was bugging me for a long time. I won't mention the other changes as that's for Thomas to speak on. But I am enjoying so far.

RE: Computer Specs@utiler If its straight up SketchUp stuff you're fine with that build. More than enough. Really nice to hear from you too. Those late night IRE v AUS banter sessions were fun.

RE: Underground CarparkItโs the approx method and took about 90secs. This new AI denoising on demand is actually improving render times by quite a large factor. On the older builds it felt like the denoiser was running after each resolve. Now you can render, pause, check the denoise, turn it off and resume rendering again. Itโs noticeably faster. The light values too feel better. Itโs not that orange kelvin anymore. Good stuff so far.

RE: How to grab 18,000+ Quixel Assets while they are free@Gus-R said in How to grab 18,000+ Quixel Assets while they are free: And idea what will happen with Quixel Bridge and/or Quixel Mixer or will that go through Fab? What does this mean for Quixel? When Fab launches, Quixel Megascans content will move from Quixel.com and Bridge to Fab, and be available through the Fab website and Fabโs Unreal Engine and UEFN integrations. In 2025, we will begin charging for Quixel Megascans to support the ongoing improvement, curation and development of new Megascans content. While we will continue to offer some content for free, the majority of Megascans will no longer be available for free unlimited use in Unreal Engine projects. From Fab launch until the end of 2024, Megascans will be free for everyone under Fab's Standard License, for all engines and tools. When you acquire Quixel content on Fab - whether free or paid - you can use it forever. You will continue to have access to any previously-acquired content through Quixel.com and the Bridge app. MetaHumans will also continue to be available via Bridge until they move over to Fab. We'll eventually discontinue hosting Quixel content on Quixel.com and the Bridge app, and we'll provide advance notice when that time approaches. Starting today, we are discontinuing automatic renewals of paid subscriptions. If you are a paying Quixel subscriber, you will have an opportunity to convert to Epic Wallet credit or refund any active paid points balances when Fab launches.

RE: Mod Family RoomVery smart. Why is only one lamp on? Would love to see that corner illuminated too.

RE: Twinmotion 2025 ecosystemWhat I find interesting with Unreal is that so many Triple A gaming studios are adopting rather than developing in-house engines. That means Unreal is only going to get better over time as top talent finding roadblocks making 3D environments will benefit the engine. That naturally passes to Twin Motion which will get a more user friendly feature/s for visualisation. Acquiring TM was such as good move by Epic. Especially when you add Quixel, Megascans and SketchFab. If Epic ever decides to provide a modelling platform to users it will really shake up the space. This video shows there's a ton of setup that has happened to help automate. Can you imagine what something like this could be if it cooks and refines for another 12 months!

RE: A Recent 3D Printing Project@Dave-R Are you open sourcing the print files for others or is it a commercial product for the living aids sector? I knew someone who invented a sock removal aid that ended up licensed to some large US based living aid supplier. It was initially an aid for wetsuit removal that caught the eye of an investor who saw a use in living aids. Those clips that receive the belt must be pretty unique in the space.

RE: Twinmotion 2025 ecosystem@Mike-Amos said in Twinmotion 2025 ecosystem: Having found that gravy train, not likely to change is it? I wouldn't go that far. They need a recurring payment model to continue development. But an option like a SketchUp only app without all the extra bells and whistles. I have never used Trimble Connect, the web based app or mobile apps etc. So for me its just a bunch of stuff. I don't need a swiss army knife. I just want a knife....one can dream

RE: Rayscaper render Living room with a cold view. It's hard to decipher what going on as it is only a rendered image. There's no spotlight values or a raw SketchUp image showing the setup.

RE: Twinmotion 2025 ecosystemYes, Its the GI component of the light aspect in UE. Resources heavy and benefits for RTX cards. You get all that beautiful bounce light and realtime AO but you can see even in Triple A gaming that the hardware to run this is pretty hefty. The new 50 series nVidia cards, in particular the 5090 at ~$2000, are really suited and geared towards this tech. Apps like Twin Motion will benefit from that but the consumer needs to invest every year in GPU cards to leverage these benefits. When you take the yearly cost of SketchUp, Twinmotion and GPU/CPU it means you need good paying project work to even consider staying competitive. Tech is moving so fast these days but its is also bringing with it rising costs. I still prefer old path tracing engines rather than these realtime solutions. I feel they lack that physical correctness in materials. There's something I just like when it comes to authoring my own physically correct material and seeing the results. I've the same fondness with SketchUp as it has simpler approach to 3D that works.

RE: How to search and find a specific material in a huge material library? No, you can't search libraries unfortunately. ThruPaint does initially take time to build a database but after its ok to search.
