      Never mind...
Apparently one has to wait just long enough to post a question.

      It is back up now:)

    • License check in?

      Hi,
I checked my 2020 pro license out to use on my laptop while out of office for a couple days.
I am now back in office and have checked back in but when I try to start sketchup on my office computer I get the "In use by another computer" message and can't continue.

How long should I have to wait until I have access again?

      Thanks

    • New old problem

      windows 10, sketchup 2020

I have been using 2020 since it came out with no issues.

Today I went to modify a dynamic component (have been using the some dynamic component for ever)
& I received these messages when the DC plug in launched.

      no data 1.JPG
      error.JPG

I had this problem back in 2016 and the final answer then was SU team saying it was a known problem and would be dealt with. In time it was.

This is the link to that thread back in 2016
      https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=63876

Strangely enough, I am able to work with the dc if I use edit in place.

Also should note that this seems to related only to one drawing file. I did copy and paste the model into a new drawing file and it seemed to be ok as I was able to work with the Dc until I saved the file. It then started giving the errors again.

Because this is only effecting one model (for now) I am ok with using the edit in place work around, but thought I would put this out there in case there is a known fix for this issue.

      Thanks.

    • RE: Fill moves outside of boundaries

Hi Dave, I am 2019 pro qtx 1080

sorrry i have not posted for a while and neglected to add the proper up front info.

I also did not say it is the pdf output that has the fill misplaced. I have since figured out that I must use the built in export feature vs printing to a pdf.

      It worked.

      Thanks Dave

    • Fill moves outside of boundaries

      Hi All,
I imported a model into layout, chose the scene I want, changed scale to 1/16", adjusted line scale a bit so they dont look so fat. I am confused as to why my fills are moving away from the boundaries.

      I have hybrid selected

    • RE: Lumion 8 is just amazing!!

I guess I did not answer your question fully a 30 frame per second video under 2 minutes long of a single House of the detail level that I was showing in that video would probably be around 3 hours in my experience with my machine.
Changing the size and length you can easily get one under the 2-hour mark

      Pinoy,
Hard to compare timing when we do not know what your model and the output look like.

model size and complexity, plantings, furniture, lights, etc.

plus the biggest factor probably being the quality of output. fps, size, length, etc.

      Machine spec also a factor.

the model I posted has two very detailed large homes with interior & exterior furniture so its pretty heavy.

Post your 1 hour video if you would, so we can compare apples & oranges.

    • RE: SWIMMING POOL ... sketchup in Lumion + simple animation

I am a user of lumion and I would say that your video is not living up to what lumion can produce.

I wonder....are you applying your photo effects stack to the movie? Also wondering what quality level you are running for the movie.

One of the most important things I have learned about making videos from sketchup models is to be careful not to make a "photo real" movie that falls short in quality. Often times if the movie is not as good as your stills it detracts from the design you are trying to sell to the viewer. Lumion makes it very quick and easy to produce a movie, but to really make a compelling video you have to dig deeper into the program and spend time finessing the materials and camera path.

      My 2 cents.

      Yeah I saw that.
Looks like I can upgrade for about 500 bucks which is not insignificant in that I just purchased it a few months ago.
I will wait until the official news of what is new is put out there and then I'll probably upgrade.

Any specific reason for going 60fps instead of 30 (29.94)?

It might just be my imagination, but I think it looks smoother at 60.

The plants and trees are all lumion. The grass is modeled in sketchup and then replaced with lumion landscape grass.

Quite some time ago this thread helped me make the decision to purchase Lumion 8.

I started using it a couple months ago and I am very happy with it so far. I have not mastered it by any means, but I am finding the work flow relatively easy. Produces solid still shots and it is just what I was looking for to create quick, good quality virtual fly arounds.

Like I said, I have a ways to go with learning how to create compelling videos, but with the short time I have been using it I am optimistic I will get there.

    • RE: [Plugin] Hole Punching Tool

This is my favorite time saving plug in ever!

Tig, I just wanted to make you aware of a behavior I have noticed in 2018 sketchup using latest holepunch download.

If I work on a model for a while, could be a half an hour or a half a day, placing objects that i will be punching after I get them all placed and then start punching them 1 by 1 there is a substantial delay from the time I hit "punch" to the time it actually punches. Upwards of 5 to seven seconds.

If I close the file and re-open it and start punching before i do anything else the punches then punch with virtually no delay.

If I was to to start working on the model after re-starting without punching first the delay will re-establish itself.

Not a big deal to me, because i normally place all my windows without punching and then punch them all when I have them in place so restarting once before I punch is not a big deal.

Just thought you might like to know.

I see this post was a long time ago, but thought i would post what I think is a better Hardie shingle texture.

The model has a simple plane in which you can sample to get the texture.

    • RE: SketchUp 2018 - first impressions

The only time I experience behavior that sounds like what you are describing is if I happen to be directly behind an inserted image or some other obstacle right in my face. A quick orbit to the side or up/down and i can quickly navigate past.
Maybe you are experiencing a unique problem.
I find navigation to be fast, responsive, and easy.

      I like sketchup.
Have used it forever. Never been dissatisfied with new versions or updates.I appreciate the continued efforts to improve the product without breaking it for current users...an almost impossible task I would think.

Every update and every new version it seems like the most criticism comes from users who are using free plugins on the free version. Nothing for nothing is my basic expectation. If the product wants to continue to grow, there will be growing pains.

One can never please everybody and one should not try.

      I like sketchup.
