I used Lumion 3 for work years ago. It produces great results, but is the user interface still a nonstandard pos? It wasn't the worst I've ever come across (looking at you, Zbrush), but UI design is one of the few things that makes me rage about softwares.

UI is a real disaster, they could conquer the market easily with conventional UI + human pricing.

Quite some time ago this thread helped me make the decision to purchase Lumion 8.

I started using it a couple months ago and I am very happy with it so far. I have not mastered it by any means, but I am finding the work flow relatively easy. Produces solid still shots and it is just what I was looking for to create quick, good quality virtual fly arounds.

Like I said, I have a ways to go with learning how to create compelling videos, but with the short time I have been using it I am optimistic I will get there.

Great video Paul. You've upped your fly-through game continuously and this looks like it'll be a great tool in your hands!

πŸ‘ which is absolutely right, since Paul has to show impressive good and beautiful models always πŸ˜„

@ Paul - as far as I know, Lumion brings its own library of vegetation and even grass. Did you use this for the shown rendering animation πŸ‘ or was all that already part of your SkUp model?

The plants and trees are all lumion. The grass is modeled in sketchup and then replaced with lumion landscape grass.

Any specific reason for going 60fps instead of 30 (29.94)?

It might just be my imagination, but I think it looks smoother at 60.

There's a teaser for Lumion 9 on Youtube. Looks like true IBL lighting and environments. Also looks like fur-like grass maybe.

                        Yeah I saw that.
Looks like I can upgrade for about 500 bucks which is not insignificant in that I just purchased it a few months ago.
I will wait until the official news of what is new is put out there and then I'll probably upgrade.

PMOLSON: I got access to Lumion 8.5, just wondering your 13Hrs Animation render?
Is that how long does it take to render a house? reason why i am asking is
I want to upgrade to 9 because of the new features.
Also i am using Enscape 2.4 a large shopping mall complex fly through in and out the park.
4K animation will only take less than an hour. Thanks Cheers

                            Pinoy,
Hard to compare timing when we do not know what your model and the output look like.

model size and complexity, plantings, furniture, lights, etc.

plus the biggest factor probably being the quality of output. fps, size, length, etc.

                            Machine spec also a factor.

the model I posted has two very detailed large homes with interior & exterior furniture so its pretty heavy.

Post your 1 hour video if you would, so we can compare apples & oranges.

I guess I did not answer your question fully a 30 frame per second video under 2 minutes long of a single House of the detail level that I was showing in that video would probably be around 3 hours in my experience with my machine.
Changing the size and length you can easily get one under the 2-hour mark
