I just noticed something strange. I just copied my kmz to a new folder that did not have the image folder as a sub-folder and it no longer displays the images. I changed them to ../images/pic1.jpg based on a forum post I read about a change to GE that was apparently made with GE6. I wonder if that could be the problem.

Found the problem after 3 hours of searching. It was one single filename with part of the name "delfin" but the "i" was accented instead of a dot. It was in the jpg file name plus in the doc.kml file that referenced it. Methinks (Trimble) need to fix their meaningless message so people have some idea what the problem is. The big problem is I was first getting an error message relating to latitude and longitude. The message then changed but the problem remained the same, which is is confusing to say the least. This is my first try at previewing my model in G.E. G.E. opened but the model didn't show up. I'm guessing it's a permissions issue, but what folder, file do I need to have permission for?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up using CorelDraw Essentials X5 which I discovered was pre-installed on my (Aldi) laptop. It worked well. I was able to Copy in Corel and Paste-Special in Word, which is where I actually wanted the data to end up. Even re-sizing in Word still retained crisp lines without any anti-aliasing etc.

Maybe try the desktop version instead?

I imagine that the plugin would determine the normal to the projected texture, from which one could construct the plane.

I did find that I could overcome it by just getting bigger and bigger with the angles. ie. specifying 352 degrees say, then 380 degrees, then 420 degrees etc. It seems to work. But I actually used a suggestion Aerilius made, which was to get to 359, then do a change to 0 with a duration of 0 so it spun anticlockwise infinitely fast, then carried on with 20 degrees, 80 degrees etc. That also works. But it is all a fudge. Surely there is some way of forcing the rotation to the desired direction.

Both those suggestions were just what I was looking for. Thanks a lot for that.

Another solution would be to place plants in front of the pillars.

CLF_Loose2groups.rb This Plugin will make groups of all your loose (ungrouped) geometry. It will not change existing groups or components. http://www.smustard.com/script/Loose2Groups

Windows has done that since XP. Zip files act as regular folders. To zip a file (or files) you just select them, right-click, Send To > Compressed (Zipped) Archive
