RE: NVidia 1080 GTX announced
No thanks Juju. I bought the Evga gtx 1080 founders edition and can't really show benchmarks that have to do with SU. Within SU it is more a matter of 'feeling'. But my biggest annoyance in SU is the mega slow copying of compex groups and this seems to go much faster now...

RE: NVidia 1080 GTX announced
Just bought the card and installed it. First impression, it's fast and I really notice a difference in handling complex models. Especially copying complex groups/component is much much faster compared to my 'old' gtx 980.
Happy with it!

RE: NVidia 1080 GTX announced
Does anyone know if this 1080 card will accelerate the copying and pasting of objects(complex) in Sketchup. I guess it has something to do with ram( ), but I'm not sure if SU uses the computers ram or the one form the graphics card. I'm now working with a 980gtx and my pc has 32gb ram, but SU still is "laggy" sometimes....
thanks!!

RE: 4K Monitor
Yep, updated all plugins(checking this everyday) and set de scaling level to 200%. I also checked if this issue occurs on a 150% scaling and it does...Tried different things but nothing really helps. Already unplugged my screen again!

RE: 4K Monitor
...connected my 4k Dell 24" screen, but still got messed up toolbars(from installed plugins).

RE: 4K Monitor
When I use a custom scaling level(in Windows 10), some of the menubars Fredotools(for instance) are using, a unusable because they are scaled out of proportion(too big). Other menus of plugins are messed up as well...Only when I don't use scaling everything is fine. But working on 24" with a 4k resolution without custom scaling is almost impossible without magnifying glasses...

4K Monitor
Hi SU-ers!
Has anyone tested SU 2016 on a 4K monitor yet? SU 16 should be ready for it, but how are the plugins(especially all theFredo plugins) working on it. Last time I tried it(SU 15) I turned over to my old monitor...
Thanks!

RE: Decal mapping in V-Ray
Thanks Andybot...that's where I was afraid of...mmm...It's a solution, but don't you see shadows when you render close-ups?

Decal mapping in V-Ray
Dear Sketch-Uppers,
SketchUp is my favorite modelling tool for years now and I'll definitely stick to it. But rendering I do with C4d, which is great as well, but exporting from SketchUp to C4d cost me to much time before I get everything right(phong angles etc etc).
Therefore I was wondering if I can better use Vray over C4d? I've checked some tutorials and installed the demo, but I really miss the possibility of decal mapping and stacked material mapping. I know that you can use alpha channels, but then the applied object becomes transparent and I lose the overview in Sketchup(it becomes a mess). In C4d I can apply different materials and they are "stacked" on the object. For instance, a wooden wall, and sticked on it there are separate materials containing different textures. For me, as an exhibition designer, this is most essential!! Isn't this possible in VRay? Should I stick to C4d? Please advice! Thanks! -
RE: SketchUp 2015 Wishlist
If Trimble take us, users, seriously...they make complex object handling faster....much much much faster....
