My drivers are up to date...and I think/know CS5 is working "crappy"...and I don't notice spectacular differences with my fx1800 card...that's why I'm wondering what I should do!
Well....
It's strange and it's a bit confusing, but I think the Fermi architecture play a very important role in this. But nevertheless, the numbers, in the Sketchup test, are strange. I thought I've bought a high-end card that would blow away all those Geforce game rubbish....not....
Hi All!
...I'm using a I7 with a QuadroFX1800, but I'm not so happy with the fx1800 in programmes like Photoshop(it's glitchy). After I read this article http://www.cgarchitect.com/news/newsfeed.asp?nid=4960 , I'm really going to doubt If I should buy the GTX 480! Look at those scores for SU! Is this article wrong or what? Does someone has any experience between these two cards?
It looks very promising, but it does nothing. I can see the menu etc, but when I push the "spray" button; "the computer says: "No"....
Oh I'm working with v8!
IT'S WORKING! Thank you!!! But the offset.rb and the multioffset.rb that can be downloaded from this topic are different than the ones you've send....strange huh?
Nevertheless thank you!!
Grtz and a happy new year!
Pep
Hey Tig,
The size of the box is given in the capture en the amount of offset is 150mm...It has always done the trick...Can you mail me the offset.rb and the multifaceoffset.rb you are using?
Thanks for your time!
Grtz
Pep
Hey TIG, Thanks!
I already placed the both *.rb files in the main plugins folder, just as usual...And I got the following error message in the Ruby Console but that is Chinese to me!
I don't know what's wrong?
Hey All!
Does anyone has this fantastic plugin working in version 8?! I installed offset.rb and the latest Multifaceoffset.rb but only the input dialogue appears and it doesn't do anything...
Thank you!

....or does anyone know how to offset multi faces in another way?!
Jeff, are you afraid to criticize Google or something? Well sorry, But Google HAS TO listen to ALL users and do have to make decisions in which way the software has to develop. That's all. But let it develop! There are modeling tools that everyone can use...in every field....like for instance a more clever push-pull tool...
Where is Ladybugz?
ps; don't misunderstand me...I want to have a tattoo of the Sketchup-logo on my forehead...I love it...but it seams that they have lost something...
Everybody is right. But that was not my point. I think, that Google IS developing more and more tools(what also can be done by plugins....?!) for their Google Earth project and put them in SU.
I think Ruby IS a great option to make a good piece of software better, and I'm glad we have that option. But what I wanted to say is that I'm missing just ESSENTIAL modeling tools, that can also be integrated in the existing tools(for instance; selecting a line an use PushPull on it..). And, off course (to Marian), I know that you can model anything with Sketchup...but there are tools that can do it a LOT faster. I think Google must come up with different versions, that's all. I LOVE plugins!!! But the core of the concept must be good to...especially when you market your software on architectural academies....
Jeff I do believe that there're benefits. But right now I just feel that Google puts more effort in making SU a tool for "Google Earth Content creation" than an architectural- or model tool. And you can't deny, SU started to sell their software in a box with "architectural" visualization tool on it. What is the real improvement? Come on...angular dimensions in LayOut and the "solids"-tools that they have bought from Whaats? I mean....I'm stunned. Where's the bezier tool? Where's the push-pull tool on non-flat surfaces? Where is the bevel/chamfer tool? Where is the bend tool? Where is the Subdivide and Smooth tool? All tools that are essential in SketchUp and that are made by plugin developers, but needs to be standard in SU to become a "decent" architectural tool.
Okay, I'm a teacher in architecture and at the moment I really doubt to suggest students to work with SU. It stucks to be a tool with a "freeware" abilities....I'm sorry to say, but organic architecture is still almost undo-able in SU...It's a shame because the UI of SU is UNIQUE...
Please Google, drop that Google Earth stuff in SU, make it an own "geo"-version or something. Who wants to draw the world in 3d these days, for fun, a few people? I can't hardly find topic on this forum that's goes about "how do I model my village?". Who goes wild by the new "better location"-option, or to see the world in color.....well I don't. I like the new solids-function though...
You're absolutely right Marian. SketchUp won't be dropped by Google, but I can imagine that they have other interests then the users that are working with it for years....At the moment I'm working with a SU-setup that is completely based on the plug-ins I use. Without them, SU can't do the job for me anymore....And these are quit fundamental plug-ins, needed for decent architectural design.
That's why I was concerned about the "hearsay"....I have the feeling that I'm using a product that won't evolve to the one I want to work with. This is hard for me te say because I'm working with it since version 2!
I don't want to prove anything. I want to know if it's true. And as I mention I heard someone saying that...it is hearsay!
I can't give the source's name(because I just don't know the guy), but he told someone that Google doesn't have the intention to develop SU anymore. "SU does what it has to do, and that's making simple models for their maps....". There seems to be a "clash" between the @Last-group and Google. "@Last" wants to develop SU to an all round modeling tool with the "award winning" user interface and Google want to give more tools to enhance Google Earth....
Is this true? Is there a chance that version 8 will never come...Is SU also the tool for the future to use in an architectural firm?
grtzz

But nevertheless, it's a huge step forward....It's a great script already...
Thanks!
