There are already several Rubies out there that make grids of clines at XY (and Z) spacings - grid.rb, 3d_grid.rb, numbered_grid.rb etc. There's also a parametric 2D version you can adjust later on - think that's on SUp site ? Search in Didier's Ruby Library Depot site...

Paul, this is awesome! Thank you so much. I had considered exporting as .png (also a lossless format, but much smaller then .tiff) but after i saw 4500 panels, I thought "this can't be right"! Man, that is a stinkin lot of work! I should have charged dbl. I guess some lessons are expensive. Anyway..... I really like this idea. Especially the part about making changes. That is huge. This project I'm working on as 360d views. So some how I have to work that in. I played with it a little in PS, ugh the thought of place those backgrounds in 4500 panels..... I also like the organization tip. That will really help alot. I'm looking forward to more of your nuggets of info!! I also want to say thank you to Kris, as he has been helping me in the background also! Thank you both sooo much! MORE, MORE, MORE....

Very nice Paul! What method do you use to get your white lines in the pavement? Do you use the stamp tool?

Oli, I think I have some advise for you. Make each floor on a different layer, this will greatly simplify modeling. Make sure that all the lines that you draw are Exactly on the axis that you want them on. Occasionally check to make sure that faces that should be coplanar are coplanar. Always remember computer modeling is mathematical, if you want clean efficient models they must be mathematically correct. I made this model when I was 13 and I am now 14, so I'm almost as young as you. The roof on that house took me a looong time to fix a 0.1 degree mess up that I made while I was not paying attention. I'd love to see some more models of yours, and possibly some clean ones once you become a more experienced modeler.

Paul, I had a similar experience, I was really geting into K for a while but problem arose with large models . For simple things it was ok - I could open it in K and add some additional materials there but with large models there were pages of materials that came out - I didnt know what was what. I was really frustrated.

Edson you are correct in the lecture notes there is the use of Sketchup for the course. http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/Architecture/4-101Experiencing-Architecture-StudioSpring2003/LectureNotes/index.htm
