mmm.. going on with testing and it only loaded the first toolbar i saved.. now it refuses to load others.. moreover it refuses to load the toolbar editor..

RE: [Plugin] ToolbarBuilder
mmm.. another huge downside i didn't notice.. is that when you close and reopen sketchup the custom toolbars aren't loaded at all! i also saved the toolbar position and tried to restore, but nothing happens.. one have to load each saved toolbars every time? that's quite annoying..

RE: [Plugin] ToolbarBuilder
nice! i expected this one for ages!! so i immediatey purcased and tested it.. it works perfectly!
the only downside to it is that it doesn't let the user arrange the buttons.. that would be cool indeed. plus it arranges icons the opposite way than they were in their "native toolbar" wich is quite confusing to me..
so.. is it possible to have some "arrange buttons" functionality?
thank you! -
RE: [Plugin] Helix along curve
very nice plugin! love it! thank you for sharing!
i don't know if this can be possible, but it could be also nicer if you can add a sort of taper to the tube diameter! -
RE: Artlantis 4.1 surprise
yeah artlantis is fast as it does nothing. i think ms-paint is also faster. and a bit more relistic than artlantis. worst metal ever and plenty of limitations. i'm forced to use it often at office and i'm absolutely hate it. and please look at he real maxwell render. the one embedded in artlantis is a TOY. plus if you use maxwell engine it becomes as slow as maxwell. so you lost the only advantage of use artlantis that is quantity and speed. not quality. that's for sure.

RE: Second bounce renders black in final image
make you sure that in the "Indirect Illumination" tab the GI -> On box is checked

RE: VRay for SketchUp Caustics Problem
can i do a stupid question? have you checked that "affect shadows" option is active?

RE: Vray black squares and splotches
@ thomthom i've rendered a 10 floor building with 5000+ light sources 4000 pix with clean direct render and 8000pix with multiple zone render.. so i think the problem could be not the lights themselves.. i suspect of the geometry
@ seabass84 could be useful if you show some wireframe + hidden geometry.. i suppose you could reduce some geometry from the vegetation and sofas maybe.. also try to render by smaller zones.. -
RE: Using Proxy in Vray for sketchup.
honestly i think this has nothing to do with "proxyes" as proxyes should be intended to decrease render time and, most of all, to save memory and i suppose your method do not because you are adding stuff to the calculation instead of subtracting it..
anyway as far as i know similar tecniques are widely used, look at artisan "proxyes" wich let you see the low poly cage layer turning off the hi-poly mesh.. and also if you are iterested into this things maybe, you can give a look to fredo's gost component plugin..
i myself don't care too much about this stuff.. i find is a way faster routine to simply draw a cube or something around the hi poly object (without all the extra offset, cut, move, create sections and material stuff etc..) and simply put it into a different layer so you can quickly switch on/off layers for modeling or rendering.. also somethimes you don't even need to create a low poly cage out of it just create a sub-layer for the hi-poly sub-components.. let's pretend you have a 2,5D tree.. the faster way to do the task is to create a layer, say "leafs" and shut it off, so that sketchup viewport is waaay faster to work with and then turn it on at render..
maybe also in your example the faster way could be put the "high poly" towel (not that hi-poly, anyway, i guess a good nvidia gpu can handle that mesh pretty nicely) and hide it into "hi_poly_stuff" layer and then turn it on and save a scene "render scene" with that layer turned on..

This is something that is already in the SU8 M1.

I have never run out of memory using SU8 and my models can get well over 100MB.
i think mainly because you avoid at all costs hi-poly vegetations, displacement, some hi-poly furnitures like detailed drapes, etc parking lots with hi poly cars and so on..
i tend to avoid them, but sometime you can't.. and workarounds such as rendering by zones etc are needed..
on a recent project we worked on a couple of huge car resellers.. you can just figure that it was "so exciting" working on 180+ cars within 32 bit enviroment.. -
RE: Vray error
there are various causes for this to appen. try exit the application and restart.. then try to ovverride materials.. and also you should give more information about your model, materials etc..
anyway there are a lot of discussions about this.. -

Its not about version i think coz i saw a tutorial in which the author was using old version...
i'm not saying that updating will solve this particular problem.. but i think is a good thing to have the program as up to date as possible..

RE: Vray for sketchup toon material ( HELP )
i don't know anything about the toon material.. but i suggest anyway to update to vray 1.49.01

I am not good with rhino however and it would be great if I could cut it out of my workflow for this project and just get curviloft to work in the same way.
in this particular case i would prefer "extrude edges by rails" from TIG extrusion tools.. actually i think is the more accurate and it also looks like the more "rhino-esque way"

RE: Simple Artisan examples collection
i have no idea of what "wee on your bonfire" means (i'm not so good at english and this appear to be "slang") anyway it doesn't matter.. no problem at all..

RE: Simple Artisan examples collection
ehm.. a few months ago, i showed exactly this here:
http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=46136&start=30#p421134and also here with some variations and rendered version (into this very same thread):

RE: Time for a change for me...
hell yhea.. we want also thomthom, fredo6, tig and some other top plugin writers into the team.. so that sketchup can soon compete with 3dsmax & co..

RE: Suggestions for higher quality and more realistic render
maybe also more than 30-40 as far as i can see the proper value changes at each renders depending of the lighting conditions.. i suspect that in your case you should raise it a lot because you have a lot of splotches.. keep testing and read soemething about the vray engine.. the link posted by valero is a very good start, look further in that site, it refers to vray for 3dsmax but it works quite the same in vray for sketchup..

RE: Suggestions for higher quality and more realistic render
obviousely the second one, i didn't even see the italian menu-text haahah..
