you are a bit confused, the materials are in vismat form, but if you click the "m" button in your diffuse slot you will get the texture valero is mentioning.. and there you can browse for the proper image (so probably a .jpeg or .png) to load so if you are not aware of this you don't load any image and vray renders it totally black. i think 90% this is your case. so once you load your vismat you have probably to link again the proper textures, bump map etc in each "m" slot you need.. chaces are you can find them in the very same folder which contains the vismat.

modeling in quads takes other advantages, not only texture mapping, also you got a cleaner well subdivided mesh, handling the mesh is more effective, because you can quickly select/grow/shrink loops and rings it is also very fast to create/add/remove them and get more control over the mesh density.. if you give a look to the pages thomthom linked in the first post of quadface tools, you will find them very useful.. in particular the link to that blender forums..
anyway did you try "convert sandbox quads to quadface quads"?

actually not, they moved them here and there, but i can see the buttons are more or less the same if i'm not wrong, plus having the fresnel map default for reflections saves tons of clicks.. not a big revolution, but is pretty much useful anyway.. one don't need perfect mirrors so often..

you may change the background, or also put some hdr maps in the reflect slot, or maybe create some coloured light sources which are invisible to camera but affect reflection..

Grazie ancora. Luigise non ricordo male l'accesso alla sezione italiana la devi sbloccare dal pannello di controllo.
riguardo al plugin, se non funziona credo proprio che tu non abbia fatto tutto correttamente. un altro motivo potrebbe essere che non hai i privilegi di amministratore e non ti fa scrivere nelle cartelle di sistema, tu sei sicuro di essere amministratore del pc o magari stai provando a installare sul pc dello studio di cui non sei amministratore o qualcosa del genere? prova anche con simple installer di thomthom. lo trovi tra i plugin. eventualmente prova a postare uno screenshot della tua cartella plugin così vedo se effettivamente è tutto in ordine come dici tu.. -

seriously?? everyone i know says multiple xeon is way faster than i7.. but i don't know.
i only work on 3 computers and they are all quad core i7.

quando installi un plugin devi abilitarlo. segui le istruzioni corrette di installazione (se non ti vuoi sbattere usa simple installer di thomthom che funziona benissimo) assicurati che in window->preference->extensions sia presente la spunta sul tuo plugin. se hai fatto tutto correttamente nel menù draw ti crea un sotto-menu 2d tools. puoi anche andare in view->toolbars e mettere la spunta su 2d tools per visualizzare la toolbar.
un'altra cosa: se proprio devi fare domande in italiano vai nella sezione italiana, altrimenti sarebbe più "educato" parlare in inglese.

mmm.. in other word you want sketcup to act like 3dsmax? i like the whole shortcut thing as it is.
plus actually i wonder how do you can move/scale/rotate groups and components if vertex tools intercepts the native tool every time?? -

i don't deal with contour models, landscape and so on.. just wanted to play with this beauty of plugin.. so grabbed the mountain from google used contour maker by tig to cut the contours, used the cuntours to generate the mesh, did a bit of general cleanup and texturing with a mix of VT + QFT + trupaint, then copied and pasted in place into groups both the contours and the quad grid and converted them with "lines to tubes" plugin for vray to render them.
just to practice.. one never knows.. plus this is funny.edit. i misunderstood the question.. my english is quite bad.. and i'm tired.. yeah i did the texture by myself.. here is the vismat if you like it..
