can you share some of your settings in particular those about irradiance map/light cache and also for the displaced material?
anyway i would rather avoid displacement at all, because in this case it will only cost many many memory and render time for a job that you can achieve with a simpler and faster bump..
ps. are you italian?

RE: V ray renders images in wrong position
i find that it's a lot cleaner create a new material, load that texture and properly map it on the geometry rather than import an image and place it onto geometry from file/import etc.
create a regular material and always check if it's applyed on the front face.. maybe this will help vray to avoid this strange behaviour.. also, if you need to scale/place the texture in a more effective way than the native "texture position" tool, i suggest to give a look at thrupaint by fredo6, thomthom uv toolkit may be helpful too, as it provides a tool to fit texture to quad faces etc..

i found the proper plugin. this is the link to it.. if someone falls into the same problem.. http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12494

(SOLVED)plugins to move nested components to "parent" layer?
i'm modeling some parts of a project for people that needs them to import within 3ds max, and of course i don't know anything about the way max work
i organized my layer/components/subcomponents/hyerachy as i usually do to have the most comfort and proper control over selecting/hiding/editing within sketchup, you know.. nested subcomponetns may be in a different layer than their "parent" component, geometry on layer 0, etc etc..
they ask to save for version 7 and it semms to import fine, also.. texture mapping/transparency/smoothed edges are exported in a proper way..i see my components are actually imported on their side in some funky nuclear-meltdown-messed-up-multimix-material or something like this.. i don't remember how the hell they call this odd thing, but looks like they can manage this (don't ask me how
) and this is ok..
BUT they are telling me only some parts/submodels wich keep useful layers information after import..
as far i can see, the only parts properly layered on their hand are the components in which every nested and "subnested" components are in the same layer as the parent one..NOW.. they are asking me to respect this scheme and as far as i know, the only way to do this is to manually dig into the components and nested components and nested and nested.. and reassign manually to the parent layer using the "entity info" box..
this is pretty much a time consuming pain in the ass..Is there some ruby script or workaround to dig faster into component hierachy to put all of the nested and sub nested components in the proper level AT ONCE???
it would be veeeery helful..OR there is some tutorial for good sketchup modeling practices (grouping layering assignin materials) to have in mind when modeling skp model for 3ds users to easily import?
OR does anyone know if there is something they could do on theyr hand to fix the issue
thank you in advance and sorry for my bad english..

RE: Problem with casting shadows from invisible object
you got an old version update to lastest and then leave the opacity 100% and tick "use color texture for transparency" in the diffuse slot, that's it. for proper shadow apply the png on both positive and negative faces.

RE: What res do you final at?
i always got some problems when i tryed to render exr.. mostly because of the fu#in' stored maps bug.. and if i run it whith regular "single frame" calculation, it doesn't show any visible memory difference between exr and regular render.. i don't know.. i can't get it..
anyway.. 10000 is "quite huge" congrats! -
RE: Proper animation
why you want export video via screen capture?
did you try exporting using smooth step animation, i don't know about the specific shadow thing cause never did it, but it generally works fine, so i would try and see what appens..see also http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=47400
hope this can help a bit.

RE: Render problem with stored light map and Irradiance map
model as smart as possible and render by "zone render"

RE: What res do you final at?
depending on the boss request.. anyway regular full-hd if is intended only for e-mail/web or small details illustration.
but in most case to be printed something between 2000 and 4000. my personal record is 8000 with a pandemonium of light surces, hi-poly cars, 2.5d trees, displaced grass etc.. but rendered by zone render square by square.. so tedious... -

the picture shows up in my model space. would it even do that if it is corrupted?
the picture you see in the sketchup viewport is stored in a temp folder somewere. you should check instead if in the windows folder where you store your regular textures, the original bump maps etc. are corrupted. i'm nott saying that this IS the problem, but i say that i would check it. and yes i'm sure i'n not the one and only having this problem. i'm sure of this because the same thing appens even in an old official vray tutorial, so..
hope this may help and hope you can understnd what i'm tring to say.. sorry for my bad english i'm so tired this evening and i think it get even worst than normal.. -
RE: My tv screen is gray!!! should be a picture
there's some funny bug in vray that destroys some bitmap.. i mean if you look at the windows folder in wich map are stored.. you could find that your bitmap is corrupted and even windows refuse to open it at all.. anyone else had noticed this before?
it happens to me from time to time with reflect/bump/displacement/emissive map basically every map except for diffuse.. i find a good workaround maybe is to "pack" each material in a .rar so that you can re-extract it every time the map is corrupted.. hope this can help.. -

Ah, the infamous 1.49.02 - Yeah, unfortunately we can't help you then. I would go get yourself a good antivirus program because you definitely have spyware on your machine now.
wath's .02 about? is that the long expected new beta?
were i can download it? in the vray site the lastest version available is still 1.49.01 WTF?
http://www.vray.com/vray_for_sketchup/edit: wait.. spyware???

RE: Batch rendering?
make sure in sketchup scene transition is enabled and set to 1sec and scene delay is set to 0. then check the "output" tab in vray options, you should have "save file" ticked and give a path/name to your saved file, then check both "animation on" and "include frame number", finally chose frame rate "custom" and FPS = 1
it MUST work.
