A good, large 4K TV is over $1000. A really good one is $2000-$3000.

I wouldn’t buy a bigger TV, but I’d happily buy another VR for my girlfriend for films. Just a better experience and cheaper.

The resolution on TVs is getting to the point where you won’t even notice the difference as it increases unless you have a 100” screen (and who is going to splash $20,000 on a TV when VR gives you a cinema experience?)

Did a quick comparison test.

Obviously my new PC is faster than my old imac....but just for giggles, here is the difference in Thea Render.

I can't use my old Mac GPU for Thea rendering, can't be bothered finding out why, it's incompatible.

Mac render time CPU: 140 seconds

PC render time CPU: 23 seconds (7 times quicker)

PC render time GPU: 14 seconds (10 times quicker)

PC render time CPU + GPU : 10 seconds (14 times quicker)

@Kristoff and Stefan: Temperature maxed out at 74 Degrees Celsius when rendering a longer scene. Thermal Status: OK 😄

The HDRI is an afternoon shot so perhaps we'll go with that! 😆

This scene took less than 5 minutes to set up ad has less than 100 faces in total.

I wonder why 2048 is considered "maximum texture size" even if graphic cards may support 16k?

It's possible but not trivial to do with the Ruby API ( UVHelper.get_XYZ is missing, and workaround is slow), and for the modeler such a model would be harder to modify.

Like it! The dark page buttons and red on blue buttons are the only thing I find not great.

I'm surprised nobody has suggested a pen tablet. I used to suffer from RSI and found that by using the mouse (for scrolling mainly) with the left hand and the pen and (Wacom) tablet with the right hand the problem went away. The pen is sooo easy and natural to use.

A new HDRI straight out the oven. I captured a strange paved pathway in the middle of nowhere. It's always been quite a mystery to me! Again, low angle sun with warm afternoon light.
