      Hello,

Version 2 of SketchUp Curved Tree Lines has now been released.

The tree lines contain curved images of forests, lakes and some mountain landscapes. The sky has been removed from the PNG textures to allow sunlight to shine through. This also allows you to use your render engine's physical sky or even a HDRI sky background in conjunction with the tree lines. By removing the sky from the panoramas, you have much more flexibility in the scene you want to create. Night time, afternoon and early morning skies are no problem with these tree lines; any type of sky will be visible through the canopy of the trees. They look great in SketchUp and significantly better when rendered due to their high resolution.

Yet again, I have laboriously re-touched and hand finished the masking to ensure the edges are perfect and crisp. You will find no white halos around leaves and branches. The tree lines render very well and will even work with render engines that do not support full alpha transparency. They also look great as backgrounds to just normal SketchUp output.

You can also use the PNG textures to add backgrounds to section and elevation drawings. This has proven to be a very popular application of the textures as they really help liven up CAD drawings.

There are 35 tree lines in this collection. Mainly summer conditions but there are also some autumn shots and alpine mountain shots. Of the 35 tree lines, there are 17 seamless ones. You can join these tree lines together to form a seamless cylinder of trees around your model.

You can get some awesome effects by layering the tree lines behind each other. It's like creating a new landscape. Coupled with some SketchUp fog effects you can really create the illusion of depth. For example, you can place a simple tree line in the foreground, a hillside behind that and then a mountain in the background. This really creates dynamic landscapes where you can literally move mountains to suit your scene.

I am in the process of making simple tutorials for these tree lines for Podium, Twilight, Thea and also default SketchUp output. I will share the tutorials when they are done. The tree lines are very intuitive and easy-to-use anyway but the tutorials will reveal some extra tips and tricks to make the most out of these packages.

Thanks for looking and take care. Any questions feel free to ask.

I thought there was already a thread on this?? The original tree lines were great. Looks like these will be even better. Thanks! Peter

I started a new thread as to not confuse the V1 thread.

There are various tree lines similar to the photograph you have provided, in fact most are like that. If you want a custom California package send me any panoramas you have and I can make it happen. πŸ˜†

                    You decide Pilou.

The HDRI is an afternoon shot so perhaps we'll go with that! πŸ˜†

This scene took less than 5 minutes to set up ad has less than 100 faces in total.
