I remember somewheres seeing a program that seemed to use a huge displacement and texture map, as well as other things, to make scenery. I don't know if that's really what's going on, but that would be my first guess. http://www.uisoftware.com/Voyager/

@unknownuser said: @nomeradona said: @unknownuser said: Good work. The shadows those bowls cast look too well-defined to me, though. Obviously I could be wrong. actually you are right stinkie. i will explain the workflow. its a kind off choosing between egg and chicken. see vray doesnot support IES photometric. in order to have the ies effect, there is a workflow introduced by andeciulala using opacity map. this opacity map will be place on the receptacle and just like a gobo map will cast the light with an ies effect. but the problem of course you can do that if you are using soft shadow. soft shadow wont show the effect. on the last image that you are using the radius is actuially "0" therefore there would be no softshadow. so the casting of shadow is really sharp. of course i could edit in photoshop. nevertheless.. sharp eyes you have there.... Ah, I see (I think! Still something of a Vray noob! ). Thanks for taking the time to explain this, Nomer. no not all you actually saw it. and wondered with it...

@johnsenior1973 said: @nomeradona said: thanks alan. yes solo that was good. im relly thinkin galong that lin ehow to make procedural texture even...but looking directly the effect in Sketchup after editting. btw im surprise that now photoshop CS4 has also 3d stuff, where you can import 3d objects and project texture unto the object like sketchup.. my hope is CS4 could open SKP file too.. i have nt tried i just only watch video... CS3 also had 3D features. I think they've extended the 3D features a lot in CS4 though. There is a plugin to import models from the 3DW straight into CS3: http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Photoshop_CS3_Extended_Plug-In_for_Google_3D_Warehouse you re right mate. i am actually using CS2 thats why i dont know. but this CS4 seems worht to fetch.

@earthmover said: Nomer, I love it. Good work. You achieved a very nice, almost non-photo real look. I especially love the first one. thanks EM. im a bit cxonfused, seems my new LCD montitor is too bright, when i openned this file with another computer, they are too dark. i looked for the adobe gamma to calibrate it but unfortunately its not in the CS3 package. went to adobe site and downloaded it from there. but now the problem i am use too with monitor and now im knsa confused with the brightness. i corrected the levels using PS. what do you think [image: hypershot_dayPS.png] [image: hypershot_night_PS.png]
