Just about anything is possible through Python Scripting in Maxwell -- pyMaxwell is probably one of my favorite new Maxwell features in quite some time (now if I was only better at scripting 😳)

Importing the scene to Maxwell Studio does give better results with the built in semi ortho cameras.

It could be extreme for a much more complex shape but SU should be able to handle that geometry on a relatively small model.

Seeing the result would help understand.

I bought the Tgi3D plugin and it did produce a visual ok result after upsamling, but it ruined my model while doing so. The model was filled with mesh errors and holes afterwards so I was back to squar eone trying to make it a solid, this is impossible due to the many mesh issues :S?

Thank you for the feedback Jason, I'll experiment with the psd method, I didn't think about saving it as .hdr - it will be interesting to see how it appears inside maxwell 😄

I have made a few tests where I gradually use the 'outer shell' command to combine chunks of cubes, it works better but the weird 'artifacts' are much higher this way (see new attachment) and I don't think it's a good way to do it :-S

Yes your second method is valuable for this sort of simple "straight object" 👍

But maybe not with more organic object
With this a normal Boolean Difference should be used or your first manual method 😉

d.instances[0].definition.name
This line makes little sense. The definition uses an instance of itself to get its definition...

It's equal to d.name. And d.name will avoid the error because Group doesn't have .definition.

You can also open two sketchup and copy what you selected and paste in place to second sketchup then resize it, then bring it back to your first design.

Brodie, a dae file is a simple text file and cannot contain the image textures (only colour references). You must have overlooked something. Generally the dae file is outside the material folder though (but probably this would depend on the exporter itself).
