    • RE: Wizard's Den

Thanks for comments and no offence taken.
The walls are problematic but couldn't figure out how to scale properly in renderer- I tried every stone option available and then gave up. The fire looked ok in SU but didn't translate, sometimes you just can't use a fudge factor. I used to use Lightup to render and there was a 'flickering' candlelight object that was very cool but if I remember correctly it only worked in a rendered animation which makes sense.

    • Wizard's Den

Not something I usually model but I'm reading a book (ThinBlade) that had a great description of the Wizard's Den that I had to try to model it.
Used a lot of models from the Warehouse (many thanks to the modellers) a mish mash of Gothic/Rustic/Elizabethan/Jacobian/Renaisance items.
      I used SU8 and rendered in Simlab7.
I LAWAYS have a terrible time with lighting so I apologize for that. Everytime I use Simlab I have to re-teach myself the program but its very stable and usually doesn't chuck me out of the process very often.
I had fun doing this and looks just like I imagined the room.
      Cheers

    • RE: Models from 3dsky

yeah....I imported the 3DS but the export needed to be edited in SU. There was no material file to apply to it in Composer so material added in SU. Certainly not as smooth as the original.
Perhaps someone with more Composer skills will be able to help.

Do you have Simlab Composer? It may be able to convert.
If you can upload an obj model I could try it for you.

    • RE: Batch Image Output

An update for anyone wanting to create a ’Catalogue’ of skp thumbnails using Mootools 3d Browser.
It may not be the best process but it works just great for my requirements.

      1. Open directory of thumbnails in Mootools
      2. Print to OneNote
      3. Save resulting Print file as a PDF
Thanks to JuJu for reminding me that I have Mootools. ā˜€

    • RE: Batch Image Output

Sorry I should have looked on their website (Mootools) first. If I don't immediately see something in the drop down menus I figure it can't be done.
Thanks for pointing me in this direction....

      Nice..looks promising.
I have the Mootools set also but couldn't figure out how to create a Catalog or a slideshow that could be opened by someone without a 3DS viewer or Mootools itself.
Are you able to save the image to jpg or png from 3D Viewer?

      Thanks,John
I'll try to figure it out.
There seem to be a number of Window solutions also-thanks for opening up that possibility also as a method.

      Thanks, John
The preview of each skp file that is shown in Windows Explorer is exactly what I need as individual images.
Is there a way to save them as stand alone image files?
Sorry I'm not very tech-savvy. I see what I want to do just don't know how to accomplish it.
Even if it wasn't a batch process just cutting out the time required to open each skp file and output the 2d image would be huge.
This may be more of a Windows solution than a Sketchup solution, I think.

      Thanks, juju
Looks like it would be the opposite-creates a component from an image file.
Thanks for your help though. I hadn't looked on the current plugins list just the older sites that are compatible with SU8. I shall look thru the later ones.

    • RE: Batch Image Output

      D. I need to export a single image from several hundred skp files One image file export per each file but as a batch process.
So ...to open each skp and export out a 2d image, probably jpg, close the file and go on to the next one.
I could to it manually but life is short
      Cheers

    • Batch Image Output

Is there a way to do a batch output of an image file- one per file from several hundred in a directory? It would need to work in SU8. I did look on the older plugin sites but couldn’t see anything that might do the job. It’s required to create a slideshow.
      Thanks

    • RE: Where is transparency?

      Hi Joe
I'm using SU8 and it is further down the edit pane not sure if it's the same in SU15
I sometimes have to drag down the assigned materials in the file to see it.
