    • RE: 20 Reasons for SketchUp artists to consider Blender

LOL I was surprised to see it listed too in this Fall's Continuing Education book. They've had introductory ACAD for quite a long time and I think I saw Sketchup once. 😲 Might have been dreaming that one though. It's being offered in 2 locations- Eastside and Westside of the city in Toronto. The cost is CAD$180.
I tried to learn Blender myself many years ago but couldn't figure it out so I hope with the new version it will make a lot more sense and be a good basis for understanding Chip's tutorials.

Great Timing...a local Adult Education Centre is having a 20-hr introduction to Blender/3D Animation this Fall. Hopefully I can get signed up.
I am SO looking forward to actually having a real person teach the course instead of trying to learn (yet another) modelling/rendering/animation program on my own. I always feel I've figured out just enough to get going but miss alot of the good stuff too.

Played around with this for about a day but sadly my old laptop is just not up to the task. Great features but frustrating when a simple edit takes forever. Anyhow had fun with this existing model of a B'n B Dining Room posted below and really like Felix the kitty sitting by the door.

Yesterday I worked with twinmotion untill night and renderd my first 3D 360 pano video in 4K for oculus rift. Ok 20 seconds took 7 hours to render but the result is impressive.

      I have many new ideas

What a nice app. I was waiting for it for years

Very much looking forward to the results-they are bound to be impressive!

Is there anywhere that explains what a Topic Icon means? Hovering mouse over doesn't pop-out a description like Similies
      Just wondering
Not much to do today I guess...

    • RE: Art Studio

Believe me I'm NO expert....I love the background images you use very much but that makes me want to be outside the room not inside. I tend to use a lot of 'fluff' in my models-carpet,pillows, glasses of wine ,cups of coffee, lamps, books and table top decor. It makes your eye move around trying to see the details and creates shadows or reflection. Just wondering what renderer you use and if you use interior lights?
Maybe give it another go with the suggestions everyone has provided and see if it makes you want to sit in the chair and gaze out at that beautiful view.
      Cheers

you don't confuse but they had surely a little clause text existing somewhere who said
we reserve the right to change the commercial policy of the product at any time! šŸ˜‰

Back in the dim and foggy days of the past when an engineering office I was drafting supervisor in, was slowly switching from manual to CAD drafting-Autocad was the sole tool of the drafting department. We were finding some of the younger guys were cadding their own drawings and handing them in to get ā€˜cleaned up’ by the drafting dept. Of course the drawings were a mess as the ā€˜engineers’ couldn’t be bothered to learn or adhere to CAD standards. It was like cleaning up a kitchen after the gourmet chef has used every pot and pan to create his masterpiece. When I objected to their boss that they were using ā€˜our’ tool to create drawings (a fine line in a unionized position where the tool defined our job spec) he wondered Why are they using AutoCad? I told him – because they can.

So I guess the sign on the wall is We Can therefore We Will.

'We are also investing in other technologies including an upcoming cloud-based version of DraftSight and much more. Therefore, we want to make you aware that DraftSight 2019 for WindowsĀ® is offered in paid versions only, and all free versions of DraftSight (2018 or earlier) will cease to run after 12/31/2019. '
Everyone seems to be riding this wave now. Too bad you can't keep one Free version.

I use Simlab Composer. Import 3DS/Export skp The version I have is fairly old but is compatible with SU version I use, SU8. I'm sure the newer versions work the same way.

    • RE: Do you need Pillows 3D Modelled?

No problem-sometimes you just need something specific and if its something a client already has or will buy, it makes the model personal.
It doesn't have to be a pillow shape for the image file as long as its a clear, flat (no distortion)view of the fabric

    • Do you need Pillows 3D Modelled?

If you need a specific pillow modelled in 3D - upload a 2d image file here and I will post a link when it's added into 3d Warehouse.
Image (2D) should be flat front view of item and good quality(see attached example)
It may be for a particular item a client would like in their design concept

The panorama file output is a new option in the Renderer that I used - Brighter3D so I don't think the plugins would affect anything but I'll have a look-thanks.

I didn't make any changes to SU settings but in the Roundme Hosting/Upload site I tried different Projection settings and Fisheye or Architectural cut the elongation perspective down quite a bit.
