Yeah, the blue axis seems to be point the right direction, but you need to adjust the red and green ones. You'll notice it is lined up correctly end to end, its just lying on its side. THat is a green/red issue. An easy way to do it is to edit the component and rotate the geometry so it is standing up. OR you could change the component axis before using component stringer. And component stringer is not necessarily the best script for laying out things like fences onto a line. CompStringer really excels at things that can change scale. I would recommend using Rick's path_Copy from smustard.com. You will probably get better results and more relable. Chris

@gaieus said: If you go to File > Save > Save image in GE, you can save the image - in screen resolution with the free version and high resolution (only wherever available of course) in GE Pro. Then just reload the imported B&W image in SU and you have a colour version. It's about 5 seconds altogether. Indeed that's what we do. If modeling large green areas or terrain, you can sometimes get a nice effect (nicer than some materials/textures anyway). I'll forget I asked this question anyway and just carry on as before!

Thanks mate, How bizzare, it works now! I have honestly turned it on and off a few times! I have however had a dodgy internet connection today so I wonder if it is something to do with not having web access or something?! Thanks for your reply.

OR move everything above the default ground plane (the x/y plane). But turning shadows on ground off is an easier solution of course.

@gaieus said: Why not use a "generic" colour that is similar to the façade? If you colour some face, the Google folks may still not like it so when a colour is applied on a face, divide that face, right click on one half and "make unique". Now SU will create a raster image from the colour. Next step is to select both halves and "combine textures" (and delete dividing edge). Very nice tip, Gai, thank you. Still need to buy you that beer!

Thanks again Chris, much obliged. I was aware of being able to hide lines etc but on my original problem (which can be seen in image #2 and #3 on the 1st post) SketchUp created a new face at the top of the arch. Anyway, don't worry about it, problem solved, thanks again!

Hi all, A big THANK-YOU for all your help - I have now sorted and have spent the last hour or so sorting out my model and it is now a much more manageable 1.1mb. I have taken on board everything taht has been said and I have learnt lots - future models will be a doddle now! Maybe! Thanks again Gaieus, I totally understand what you're saying, it makes perfect sense now, I will remember for the future, sorry for misconstruing what you suggested. Thank you everyone. All the best,

Unfortnately the link got mangled. Ah yes, I'm a bit of a history geek and much prefer the old monikers to be honest; Caer Ebrauc, Eboracum, Jorvik, Yorke etc!
