    Hi,

Just wondering if there's a way to create a new user-defined template that I can load up every time i start SU? I would like it to be in mm, without any profiles/endpoints etc.

Can anyone point me towards a tutorial or something?

    Many thanks.

    Lee

Its pretty easy really, just set up a blank SU file as you want it, save it somewhere then go window->preferences->template->browse and select your template.

SU will then load this each time you start SU.

Put your new template skp in here C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 7\Resources\en-US\Templates\ [typically]
As Remus said set it up an 'empty' skp - with everything just as you want it, and save it in there - called say MyTemplate.skp, then in Menu Window > Preferences > Templates set it as your default template [you can use File > Save as Template or physically move/copy a skp over into the Templates folder].

I have a 'mm' template with two ready made Styles [each with a scene tab] one with a watermark ['TIG'], 'title-text', perspective on, shadows, extensions, profiles, nice etc and another trouble-shooting one with contracting front/back face colors, edge color by axis, end-points etc.
The template also has lots of premade Layers so I don't need to think about making them etc.
You can even have commonly used components or materials already loaded into your default template if it suits you...

there's a way... easier way. For the mm, go to window -> model info -> units and then choose mm. For the no profiles/endpoints go to window -> styles and click on that wireframe image. Then go to File -> Save as Template and you have a template that's automatically set as your default template.

I don't know if you guys have overlooked the File > Save as template menu item in SU 7?
