Very nicely done dood, cracking render.
Agreed

(Edited) Skater for rocks and plants? Was the running stream a texture or post processed?
Again really nice work.

I had the same issue. The issue lasted about 24hrs I think. Can I assume you are able to log on now? Am thinking the issue was resolved with the server, coincidently as you swapped computers.

Yay! He's back.
Interesting model. I'm not convinced that sculptors should design furniture.
Not sure I concur with that blanket statement, but this sculptor should not

The smart way would be using a shit of light emitter material instead of a thousand LEDs... this is the trick mostly used to simulate lighting facades such as shopping or facades...
Based on your render engine there are different tips and tricks.
to have an overview of the technique please search :"apartment night texture"
Also this may give you some ideas: https://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/?p=2954
Hi Majid that,s what I did, the LED's are octagons (red) which were made into light emitters. I am interested in what you thought the Led's were?
Hi all, I wished to do a render of a High Tech environment. So I built the model with lots of Led's (about 2200+ of them) all was going OK until I tried to render
I started to render and was getting one frame about every 5 hours!! Due to the 2200 Led "lamps" which would require about 300 Passes (frames) which equates to about 62.2 days! Well that was not going o happen. so I spent about 10 hours trying/failing to come up with a solution. Then I thought, INSTANCING! something I had tried hard to avoid learning. Anyway there is 16 data cabinets so I kept 2 and instanced the rest. The attached render (without any post processing, still took 2 days but that was do-able. Anyway instancing got me out of a jam. Just thought I would share. I am relatively new to rendering and am sure my idea is not new to the more well healed renderers among us.

If you are referring to "custom lamp shade makers' you simply give them dimensions and they make it to that size that's why its called "custom" Have no idea about "tongue in cheek"
Beutifull Dave,So convincing in style and execution.
Or alternatively you could make it from sheet polypropylene as used by IKEA in many of their lamps and fix it as in my crude illustration, through the overlapping seem, and perhaps run the power cord inside the upright doing away with the centre cable post that hampers the usable surface.
Sorry Hornoxx, i was only refering to the origin of this thread. Not to anything you said. I should have used the quote funcion, so my fault. And by the way I would have thought English was your first language
Google " custom lampshade makers" in your area. They are more common than you think.
Hi Alvis, i wathed the vid, you are a legend. How did you make the crease (where the 2 parts of the real chair meet) or did I miss somthing?

Yours looks quite a bit better than mine. Could you give a point form explanation as to how you went about achieving that?
I second that, would be greatly appreciated. Very impressive
Inviting you to show your result if you wish to, I am curious

Not sure how I missed this, nice one, great atmosphere.
Hi Mike and thanks
I hope its not too late to wish you a happy new year
"Atmosphere" is what I am experimenting with at the moment.
I agree, the last one is cool. Just needs some people to bring it alive
Hi, the problem comes from the image of the person it was probably shot under lights not outdoors and does not show favourably in the context of Sketchup. I am sure it could be fixed by somebody who is competent in photoshop.
If you just need an image, do a render and have the Sun set to correspond with the lighting in the model. If you don,t render, shoot me the model and I will do a render and get it back to you.
I downloaded 2018 for a look. Now every time I download from 3D warehouse it opens in 2018, but I want it to open in 2017. If I download in SU 18 and save as 2017 it says the file was made in a later version and will not let me open it. I am perplexed does anyone have a work around? without uninstalling 2018 which I will do after the trial period.
Cheers
